Scripting Error

Hi, I am trying to create a quest mod following this tutorial

but when it comes to creating a new script all i get is the message

"unable create the new script file"

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any idea how to solve it?

For the record I've tried reinstalling it, and my skyrim has been moved out

of program files so it can be altered by the creation kit.

Thanks for any help in advance

That's new an how they created 300 quests for skyrim. It's pipelined an workflowed up the wazoo. In the past we just used the edit scripts in the gameplay tab. When he says edit source he's using the script editor. I would think you could do it either way. Though in the script editor, you wouldn't name it. You would just write the script an save it, which the name is built into it, thus it names it when it's saved. Then you would go back to where you couldn't Add an pick the script you created in the script editor rather than new script.

Yeah it doesn't work that way anymore, but I didn't have a problem. It seems like an external script editor which seems weird. I double clicked new script, named it, hit okay then after a couple of seconds it added it, then I could right click an edit it. You could have a system config shutting you down there's a couple of big brothers on Win7 I don't remember them offhand. I know there is UAC, you could disable that then try to add the script, if it works just set UAC to ignore skyrim an the CS an the scripting externals, or the whole folder lol. I seen Win7 users taking ownership of files in security settings as well in order to bypass the Win7 issues. As the game gets updated often the CS gets updated too or becomes outdated (oh noe) You should check that you got an updated CS. You could also ditch the project an go somewhere else an learn how to do something else instead or play the game, then come back in two weeks an try again.
