johnhk
Hi hope you guys can help. I'm having a bit of a performance problem here. When I click the "Auto-detect Best Settings" it tells me "Low spec"I'm trying to run it on 1920x1200 -> 16:10. My specs are:OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise with Service Pack 1DirectX: DirectX 11.0CPU Type: QuadCore Intel Core i7-2600K, 3500 MHz (35 x 100)Motherboard: Asus P8P67-M ProMemory: 16365 MB (DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM)Disk: SSD OCZ-AGILITY3 (SATA-III) 120 GBVideocard: AMD Radeon HD 6870 (Barts) Series (1024 MB) Should'n I be able to run it on a higher setting??? I tried setting it higher, but the framerate just drops below playable. The game is patched to 2.1 and I just installed the Catalyst Software Suite 12.2 (3/7/2012) Any tips/suggestions? GrindedStone
Save up for a 2Gb card. Then replace your 1Gb card an save it for when you fry the 2Gb one from poor settings. Until then work out 1920 pixels times 1200 times 30. This is around 70 million pixels per second for the minimum. There are other factors but we are only on this one right now. Step down to 1680 x 1050 an you save almost 20 million pixels per second, you can save another 10 million by using 1440 x 900. That is if it's a 16:10 display, there are more 16:9 ratios. Now why? The lowered overhead from using less resolution is significant. Enough that on most rigs you can now run a bit more post processing or detail. A lot of folks do this as a way to have smooth physics & animation rather than a true high resolution while keeping near the same visual quality if not better looking. You should also try playing it in windowed mode just to see if it makes a difference at all. Get you some program that will display your frames per second. johnhk
Thanks GrindedStone I'll try lowering the resolution.I just played through Batman and Skyrim on 1920x1200 with pretty high setting (and high texture pack) with framerates at 50-60.So I just though there was some secret setting that bombed my 6870 card. I'll report back Edited March 17, 2012 by johnhk
GrindedStone
Shadows an reflections would bomb it.
MajDegtyarev
First of all, the auto detect is broken and always has been. Ignore it. Secondly the EE patch has a major performance issue that they won't even acknowledge and others on the official forum just give generic copy/paste answers. My rig:i5 2500k @ 3.9GHz8GB RAM2x AMD HD6870 (CrossFire) Before EE patch, all settings Ultra with UberSampling disabled = solid 60FPSAfter EE patch, all settings Ultra with UberSampling disabled = 20-30FPS Changing resolution makes no difference, setting everything to LOW makes no difference, turning off Xfire makes no difference. I can run Metro 2033 and Battlefield 3 at max settings with 2xMSaa at 60fps. My computer is a beast. Their game is broken.
