ajarl
I’ve been playing the Frost survival simulator mod with several additional other winter weather mods for quite some time and I am really enjoying the nuclear winter fallout experience. Unfortunately, the mod author for Frost is too busy focusing on completing other parts of the mod to add a hypothermia system. I was wondering if anyone could make a mod which would add a hypothermia system to the outdoors, not unlike the Skyrim Frostfall mod. In my idea, the simplest way this mod could work is that whenever the player enters the outdoors, after a few seconds they gain a status effect called freezing, which lowers some SPECIAL stats and action points. After about 30 seconds, they then also gain a status effect called frostbite, which has harsher stat debuffs and does constant damage to the player (1 dps?). To counter this, each piece of clothing has a new stat called insulation. The higher the insulation, the more resistant you are to freezing, similar to Rad resistance. Single piece outfits could offer larger amounts of insulation to make up for the lack of armor, while individual armor pieces could no insulation while thin pieces of clothing like long johns and vault suits offer very little. The higher the player's total insulation, the longer it takes to gain the freezing status effect, and the longer it takes for them to get the hypothermia status effect. For example, a player wearing the highly insulated explorer outfit and a beanie would be able to venture outside for several minutes without gaining the freezing status effect, and would have to wait several more minutes in order to start getting frostbite, which would deal less damage to them. If anyone could take a stab at creating this mod to make Frost and all of the winter overhauls for fallout 4 much more immersive and interesting, I and I’m sure many others would greatly appreciate it. Deleted49413338User
Agree, great Idea! One thing I'd also like to see is using fire to reduce the cold negative effect. This would be easier to add to items such as the torches you can carry, and also the craftable campfires from FadingSignals camping mod. But it would probably be hard to add to any of the items that are static that you cant interact with, within the Commonwealth, like burning barrels etc. IDK though, maybe it would be possible.
