1.19 Another pointless update

I am shocked that they apparently have patched any bugs inside the game like you say.

They probably fixed it because it breaks some new paid mod otherwise.

"Fixed corrupted textures related to reflections", the changelog says. Probably some sort of an "extra super shiny reflective horse power armor" or stuff like that.

Btw, this one:

"Updated script functions to support new Creations"

sounds problematic. If it said "ADDED script functions..." I would even consider it to be a good thing. New functions can make stuff easier. But "updated" sounds like they changed the behaviour of existing functions. This could break existing mods.

Does anyone know what exactly they changed?

If you do the backup thing but don't have Auto Updates turned off, Steam will just redownload the file again.

For Steam users, we're pretty much screwed. Steam doesn't have a way to turn off auto updates. I suppose it would still run in Offline Mode without downloading? Or simply refusing the run?

Afaik, without getting into playing in offline mode, (1) setting the game to update only when launched; and (2) running from fo4se but ALWAYS opening steam first (to let it run its general updates) will prevent the update. I've always done (1) and thought I got ninja updated a couple "patches" ago but then realized I'd forgotten to run steam first before starting fo4se. Later read in these forums that doing that tells the game to run through the bethesda launcher which is what you're trying to avoid. That's the way I understand it, anyways, and I'm still happily playing on 1.10.20.

What Steam needs to do(for those that don't run off of FO4SE is to have the functionality of running if off-line mode available per game, as opposed to the whole library(at least that's how it appears to work for me, regardless of which game I start it tells me I'm in off line mode). That and give us the option to turn off auto-updates entirely for each game, give us the option for manual updates only or no updates at all.

Yeah after the first couple of times I started making a backup of a fallout4.exe that is working with the current version of F4SE. I have my updates set to update in steam when I start the game through steam. So if I load F4SE through NMM I never have a problem. But the second I go change any Graphics settings "BOOM" forced update happens so fast sometimes I cant stop it. It really pisses me off that we dont have the option in steam to turn off updates for certain games. I absolutely hate "Being Controlled" but theres always ways around things.

Bethesda stopped supporting this game with post-launch patches a long time ago....

Brilliant business model actually. I've been contemplating buying Vault-Tec Workshop, Wasteland Workshop and Contraptions simply so I can upgrade my UFO4P from the "legacy" version I've been using for over a year. I have absolutely zero, zilch, nada interest in the content of those DLC's but I looked through the UFO4P changelog and Arthmoor & Co. have fixed a ton of really annoying bugs since Nov '16. So, yeah, let modders fix your bugs and actually make money because of it.

Grrrrrrrr.

what irritates me about these updates, its that they're too frequent and essentially forced on us, even with 'auto-update' it still tells you that 'update required' crap. and every damn time they update, i have to update all my F4SE-dependent mods. anyway, rant over
