Adipose
Is there a mod that is set up so that Japanese swords are worn at the waist in the traditional paired(Katana and Wakizashi)blades that may be drawn and used two hand? I'm not going to get into an exchange of opinion at to proper names for these blades, so don't bother with any corrections. I do find the use of the Katana as a one hand blade to be annoying. For one thing, if one were to do so successfully, the swordsman would need truly massive wrists. I've never held one that was comfortable in a one hand posture. The ones I've seen aren't really designed for one hand use. The balance is bad for that. We're not talking about European fencing swords such as an Epee. Yes, there are Samurai "killmoves" that are realistic for one hand use. However, the move is designed to be one smooth, complete up stroke which makes use of the weight of the blade to complete follow-through and bring it back to position for return to the scabbard. Further, the move takes advantage of the traditional position of the Katana when worn at the waist with the cutting edge up. Fencing with a Katana is just not practical when used one hand. Yes, one hand strikes did happen, but they're usually one off strikes, not a long drawn out bout of one hand fencing similar to the European style when foils or sabers are used. Btw, several modders have created mods in which a two hand blade is worn at the hip in one hand style. Personally, the thought of such a carry strikes me as being incredibly awkward, no matter the style and shape of the blade. Big, two hand blades are simply not meant to be drawn and wielded in the same way as a one hand sword. I don't care whether it's a hand and a half either, it's still too heavy and badly balanced for one hand use. That's not counting the tendency of a truly long greatsword to become tangled between ones legs or to bang into stationary objects and drag on the ground. For those of you who've not seen the original "Seven Samurai" in black and white I recommend you do so. It's a bit of an eye opener. Further, "The Last Samurai" isn't bad either, even if the American protagonist is miraculously turned into an expert on the order of Miyamoto Musashi(Shinmen Musashi No Kami Fujiwara No Genshin) in somewhere around a year or two.
