Any Oblivion patches released compatible with Direct2Drive?

Recommended Posts

This is also another thing that will get my mods working better. Of course when I go to downlaod the latest patch, it tells me its not compatible with D2D. So I'm wondering if there are any pathces out there that are. Thx again.

Nope, complain to the people at Bethsoft for ignoring their D2D customers. I believe the only thing which is open for D2D is 1.1, or the 1.2 version which you get from buying SI or GOTY. In both cases, the 1.2 version you get is horribly bugged. The latest patch is slightly better, but still has a number of significant issues.

And patching won't necessarily make mods work better. Either the mod is built for a specific patch, or it isn't. If it is, you need that patch version or higher to use the mod. Otherwise, you may have conflicting or poorly made mods. Or your system could even be lacking in some way or another. Since you have D2D, you also cannot use anything that uses OBSE, or any other similar system which requires changes to the .exe.

Essentially, the bottom line is that D2D was probably a bad decision on your part. You might want to do more research in the future as this sort of thing will likely happen with any game that has modding capabilites, or requires multiple patches to get working right.

Cool, then I'll buy the actual cd. Do you know any bugs D2D users expirience when the patch for the mod needed is below required? As of now, I will just test out some light mods/ create one of my own. Thx

If you use mods which are made for a different version than what you're using, or mods require OBSE, those mods may either not work at all, only work partially, or crash your game the moment it tries to start/enter an area affected by that mod.
