Need help with settlement mod

These problems occur, and to me they usually occur when I have forgotten to set objects to Zone, or there is something wrong with the new Location, Zone, or Quest that I have created for the settlement. Most often when I fix these problems I get my settlement running as it should.

 

If you want to I can peek at your mod and see if I find what is wrong.

I have been busy making settlements and dragging my feet in finishing my own, (dummied down, since I need a minutely detailed instructions myself,) version of BlaBlaBlaBlaah's excellent settlement building guide.

 

I solemnly swear to finish it after current holidays! :D

As you can see author is not mentioning about setting zone for each time or object, so I will go through my settings one more time and fixing any zone selections...

Your new settlement needs to be made on Wilderness/Commonwealth -cell for it to work best. Once you have done that you can enlarge the Build-area of your settlement also outside this original cell. Then you create a Location for it, and also a Zone, and yet also a Quest. It isn't necessary to have all your objects use the Zone you made, but it doesn't bother either.

 

You change the name you will see in different parts of game for the settlement you made in two places: Map Marker and Location.

I made all my 3 separate settlement mods so that they use wilderness cells, what I did rename to settlement names while making the mods.

 

After I made everything needed into one same cell, I did resize build areas much bigger.

 

Now I went back to mods settings and went everything through again, making sure that everywhere is my named zone selected... But still on pip-boys workshop list names of settlements are bugged, as one missing the name totally, one called commonwealth and so on...

 

I cannot figure out anymore wheres the problem can be, I have gone settings through so many times.

 

Settlement's names shows correctly in map, and even with pop and hap values... Settlements works perfectly when I create settlers with cheat terminal, but I cannot send settlers from places like Sanctuary to my mod settlements... I cannot dismiss my companions to those locations either...

 

Im happy to send ESP files to anyone willing to take a look.

You have 3 settlements with same problem? Are they close to each other? Because if they are using same cells, that easily causes this problem!

 

ps. if you haven't gotten this fixed by after New Year's, I can take a look at it if you like.

No, all 3 settlements are separate mods and located in totally different locations.

 

I went through all settings again just to make sure that my zones were selected correctly, with some objects I had zone not selected.

 

I tested with new game and all 3 settlements were acting normally after discovery of locations, but like last time after some time game start loosing their names. Suddenly in workshops list on pip-boy names have changed.. HQ -> Commonwealth, CITY -> Diamond City, INTERSECTION -> empty blank without text...

 

Each time I test, this lost of names happens all simultaneously.. not one by one..

No, and I think I will not go through testing like that...

 

Please consider the fact that Im only a game player, who tried to fix game for my own taste. I am not person suitable to really do great modding (this I figure out by now), as I only trying to tune my loved game few steps further...

 

Problem Im having is very hard to pinpoint, even I think it's my personal disorder with any technical manuals... or trying to understand them..

 

Update to my testing:

 

I did start a new game. Travel to first settlement, everything ok. Travel to second one, this time game shows settlement's name as "Commonwealth". not in map but in pip-boy workshop list...

 

Through multiple testing settlements works ok, but this name buggin and fact that Im not able to send settlers to these modded locations from vanilla locations stays.

 

So after all... I could play game through ok with the current state, but sure it's driwing me nuts when I keep thinking how close I can be clean game play.
