Whenever i try to turn on my computer nothing happens, but if i restart my psu and then immediately try to turn on my computer it will start. what is the problem? i have a p8z68-v/gen3 motheboard with a corsair tx650m psu. I've redone the wiring and defaulted my bios with no luck.

Please post more complete hardware specifications and whether you are overclocking anything. Overclocking increases the load on the PSU. Most people don't realize this. The more work your CPU and graphics card do, the greater the load on the PSU. I will list my hardware and then I will give you the reason why I did the specifications this way.

Asus P7P55d-E Pro motherboard

Intel Core i7 860 2.8 Ghz raw clock speed. This is a locked CPU.

2 x 2 TB Seagate SATA 3 HDDs

2 x 2 TB Western Digital SATA 2 HDDS (Green)

LiteOn retail box BD Combo druve

16 GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3

EVGA nVidia GTX 460 2 GB (requires 2 external power from the PSU)

Corsair HX850 Professional Series active pfc, Modular PSU

The reason is that my primary hobby is 3D CG. The PSU rating is greater than what I need, but, I want to have plenty of extra power available so I do not overtax the PSU.

Everything except my HP LaserJet 1018 is connected to my Geek Squad UPS/Power Conditioner.

Your PSU is good, at least in theory. Everything really should work fine. This is not an overclocking issue.

When did the problem first start, and does it happen 100% of the time or less?

From what state or states does it occur? Specifically:

1) Just plugged in; some time went on; pressing the "on" button

2) Turned the computer off by pressing the Power button (on the case or the keyboard)

3) Turned the computer off by selecting "Turn Off" in windows

If it's (2) or (3), there is a possibility that your computer is not actually off, but in hibernation. Failure to resume from hibernation is much more common and associated with OS faults.

did you touch anything on your motherboard? sounds like some jumper is short/buggy, try removing Audio,USB and front panel header leaving only power switch jumper left and try removing fan that is powered from motherboard(three pin terminal) and start your PC from power button

check and reseat atx 24 pin and 4-pin 12v aux too
