llloyd
So. I posted this over on their posts and no replies so far after several days. I download the .322 version of the FO3/FNV ENB. as I am using Monochrome's version of the FNV4GB I put the d3d9.dll into the /Fallout New Vegas/exe folder. I download Onix and put those files into /Fallout New Vegas/ folder. Run the game and part way through loading the menu gets darker. I boost the brightness to max. Yet despite that the nights are absolutely pitch black, the night vision pipboy mod only making the few points of light brighter but nothing else. So I shut down, uninstall the night vision pipboy mod and reload. The light given off the pipboy I could barely see. Then I wait until day and it's way too bright. I give it a few minutes to be sure it wasn't Friend of the Night perk taking time to switch off and, nope, that wasn't it. How do I go about fixing this so it looks reasonable on both ends? In case anyone is curious, my load order in case any of these mods are exasperating things. https://pastebin.com/kVnmQAGT FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting is suppose to be last according to the mod page, but it's third to last so the LOD edits (I have run FNVLod on all the current mods) mod will overwrite anything on that and the merge patch is dead last as it's suppose to be. Onix is suppose to be designed for FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting. And there are suppose to be two darker nights levels which makes me think what it's at now is way to dark, as there can't be two more levels of greater pitch blackness. >.<
dubiousintent
Speaking in general terms, ENB is about producing various effects by way of "shaders". Among other things, it is designed to only work with vanilla game Shader Model 2, so if you have implemented a "Shader Model 3" by way of changing the "bAllow30Shaders=" to "1" in the "[Graphics]" section of the INI files, and switching the shader package used as "shaderpackage013.sdp" in your "RenderInfo.txt" file as described in "TweakGuides - Fallout 3" article, or by installing any other custom Shaders, you can expect problems. Mods like FNV RWL are based upon vanilla light levels. Various ENB pre-sets (including "Onix ENB") adjust those, and that complicates things. We have a specific set of known issues and suggestions under 'Issue: ENB Nights are too dark, even with "nightvision" ' entry in the 'Solutions to Post-Processor (ENB/SweetFX et. al.) problems' section in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide that apply in general, but are not specifically for RWL. You may need to discuss the matter with the author of the Onix preset, or try some other pre-set, or simply experiment with settings on your own. I expect from other discussions that "nightvision" is a "shader" effect. What effect and how it is applied by the "piplight" mod you are using seems to be the sticking point. Suggest you get your ENB settings satisfactory without that mod first. (It's instructions are quite specific about getting rid of any remnants from earlier, possibly conflicting installs of shaders or ENB.) Then if you have issues using that "piplight" mod, look into using a different "nightvision" mod instead. Otherwise you are letting the "tail wag the dog". -Dubious-
llloyd
Hmm, except I did disable that mod and the lighting problem was still there. I said that above when I mention that I uninstalled the pipboy nightvision and the light given off by the pipboy was barely visible. Hmm... And I had deleted all the enb and d3d files and the enb folder from trying to get ENB Boost working before pasting in the Onix files. Hmm... Shaders... Not sure, have a few lighting mods, brighter pipboy, the pipboy nightvision, a nightvision sunglasses (that I've not found *yet*), the FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting. Hmm... And in game I did take the Friend of Night perk so I don't use the pipboy light as much as I did at the start of the game, but that's a built in automatic night vision.
