Adding to Vendor Lists

Question: I checked the Wiki for an answer and didn't find one. Has anyone worked out a script to add new items to vendor lists so that other mods don't overwrite changes from another.

My Casting Circles mod adds Spell Tomes for the spells to the Restoration Lists, but I'm wondering if it might get over written.

Or is it even necessary to do it? Is Skyrim 'smart' enough to merge lists? If anyone knows I'd be much obliged.

Skyrim is not smart enough to merge leveled lists. That would have been a wondrous thing, since many gamers like to download and collect things like armor and weapon mods.

The way vendors work in Skyrim is that they sell only from their vendor chests. Unlike other games, they will not sell from what they are carrying or what is sitting in their shop. So the way I would approach this problem is I would use scripting to dynamically add the book to the chests of various vendors. (You can't just add the book to the chests in the CK because that would conflict with all other mods that try to do the same thing, and only the last one in the load order would work.)

Ah. Pity. So then I guess the question becomes how do I do that. I wonder if there's a premade for it? I know altering the loot lists, which are what the chests use, works pretty well. I wonder if I can set it up to just append those lists, so all the people that sell certain levels of Restoration will be able to sell it because it's in the list? Can scripts even do that? Adding to a loot list I mean...

I hate scripting...

Look at the quest tutorial on the wiki. It explains how to add an item to a chest or NPC. you would just have the quest begin automatically and not enter anything in your journal so you wouldn't know there was a quest happening.
