How to deal with Nature's Doom (WiS 4.3 and earlier)

Fans of the Wars in Skyrim IV mod will no doubt know about the most horrible of creatures to yet feature in Skyrim, mod or mods installed. The ultra tall foe is a formidable beast no matter what Level your character is and if you find yourself up against two of them then that old preverb of the brown stuff hitting the fan can ring a very chilling resonance down your spine.

Thankfully for some in WiS IV version 4.4 it's devastating long range weapon being changed from a spell to a poison, which allows the player to apply an antidote. For the more hardcore of players though the preference is to stick to version 4.3. Leaving it up to the player to simply grit his teeth and fight like a boss.

If there are players here though that wants the enigmatic creature to remain the former formidable foe, but would just like to cope better when fighting Nature's Doom then really there are only a few things you need to do. This applies more to fighting two of these things at once as opposed to just one and for those here who have no idea what I am talking about... I spawned two Nature's Doom creatures and fifteen Ancient Dragons. Both ND's died but so did the fifteen dragons... in fact there were about 5 or 6 dragons still alive once the two ND's were killed but this is what those ND creatures do. They are no less deadly for upto 60 seconds after you have dispatched of them.

Okay, that long range spell the cast is mega deadly and unless somebody can tell me differently there is no way or mod that allows you to 100% repel spells. I am aware of the 80% cap for resistance to magic so when this creature hits you with his main weapon, your health starts it's worrying download spiral. You need the following to help your chances of surviving an encounter with two of these monsters at once, and there are places where there are two of them standing very near to each other... such as the road main between Whitrun and Windhelm.

  • Sheild: with Resist Magic and Fortify Health
  • Ring: with Resist Magic and Health Regen
  • Necklace: with Resist Magic and Health Regen
  • Helmet: with Fortify Health and Fortify Stanima
  • Bow (Legendary): with Fire and Shock damage
  • One-Handed Sword (Legenardy): with Fire and Shock damage
  • Heavy Armor Gloves (Legenardy): With Fortify Archery and Fortify One-Handed
  • Armor (Legendary): With Fortify Health and Magika Regen
  • Lots of Health Potions
  • Lots of Stanima Potions
  • Lots of Magika Potions
  • HEALTH REGEN POTIONS!!!!!!
  • A Follower - to draw attention away from you!
[*} ALL THREE Resist Magic perks from the Alteration Skill Tree
  • Full Block, Enchanment, One-Handed, Heavy Armor, Archery and Restoration perks from their skill tree's

Getting your damage output with archery is nice and all, but it helps a lot if you have the slow time down perk. It is easier to dodge two of those incoming blasts. Your follower will do practically nothing in damage against these creatures, he/she is there simply to keep both of them off your back if you are lucky. You are going to need every bit of help regarding your health because like I said there is an 80% cap on Resist Magic so even with that... 3 or more hits from that health drain spell is dangerous. I have seen my health drain quickly even with 480 health and all of the above kitted out on me and one of those things was still alive.

Archery will get you so far, but remember your stanima will drain when holding your breath so you need Stanima potions. You may not have the time to simply use the Healing Spell if you have the Stanima perk bolted on to it.

The key is to move, and move constantly. Never, ever stand still! You shoot long range, move, shoot long range, move. Shoot long range. Move. This however only really helps with one of the creatures, you can't do both and hope someone else in the fight will help. And when these creatures are down to about 15% health, you will notice there armor rating seems to skyrocket. They become really hard to get there health lower at this point, thankfully they stumble to floor.

At this point. Get your sheild out, you might need it more than you think. Take the HEALTH REGEN potion so your health drain slower if you get hit. Get your one handed sword out, this is going to be used to do damage. Take a stanima potion... you will have to sprint like mad. Slow time spell... hope it is the 3 worded level. Charge in with your sheild raised because that other ND is going to be flinging it's spell at you still through this, SMALL hacks on the grounded ND. Too much stanima is used with power attacks. Your sword will carry over 150 points of damage with the two damage enchantments. Hack, hack, hack, hack, hack... you get the point. Make sure you are positions between that downed ND and the alive one. Any spell will hit the downed one, but when that is dead the other's spell will go through it AND HIT YOU! Don't forget to take another HEALTH REGEN potion, because they don't last forever obviously.

So as soon as the first one dies, get that sheild up because those deadly spells will be coming in. By this time, you can guarantee your follower is dead and that the attention is now fully on you!

That second ND will be close. Turn, RUN! Make sure you move in a zig-zag way. Switch the sword to Healing Spell. Use it! When drained, magika potions. Redo it. Magika potion. Redo it. Magika potion. You need to get to a built up area or simply outrun it so that it doesn't attack you anymore. These things are fast in sprint by the way, really fast. They can keep up with you if there is nothing blocking the path! Because you need another guard or something to take the attention away or atleast get distance to start the process all over again... with the Bow. And repeat.

I am Level 87, and I died everytime on that road between Whiterun and Windhelm. Until I used the equipment above with perks and bringing some bait along with me. Now I usually get them both killed before my follower dies, and I am fast running out of followers to recruit. I hope this helps... it is shame the mod's creator bucked to pressure to change Nature's Doom's main weapon.

You are essentially going to need to kit yourself out in Heavy Armor, and make sure

i prefer my game to be hard... atm i am using numerous mods, currently am lvl 35 Nord guy with heavy armor and sword/shield. my Smithing is max and the 2 main mods i use (besides numerous armor,animations,graphics,2k textures) is Deadly dragons and Wars in skyrim IV with Goldenage selected and 2x Enemy LVL.... thnx to my armor rating melee dmg doesnt does me that much harm...and i was basically happy about my char killing dragons here and there...though i still cant kill a elder fire dragon.... a couple of days ago i was going to the western park of skyrim and thats when i saw a giant fighting off 2 Tundra trolls... the giant killed both of them and i just didnt felt like bugging the giant..i went afew steps ahead and behold i saw my 1st ND... saved game and went in for the kill.... after 10 secs i realized how i got owned by ND... reloaded and made ND chase me back to the giant.... the giant didnt last more than 15 secs and i got hit by that spell and was dead..after like 15-20 reloads i realized that me and lydia simply cant take out a ND.... as we were high in the mountains i tried a diff tactic the next time... i have lvl 3 Unrelenting force so i knoced ND off the cliff while it the giant was slugging out with her... sadly the giant also got thrown off.... since than i have killed about 5-6 ND's in total and all of them i killed the same way...lower em to a high place and than Fus do raa them off.....

my magic resistance is 40% along with the blocking perk...meleeing or shooting ND totally seems impossible to me rite now..... i would really like to know who killed ND at the lvl my char is.

p.s i am lately encountering a lot of NDs in the REACH...

15-20 reloads on your first encounter with an ND?

Yeah, I have been there too! I felt like breaking the keyboard!

I prefer the high level sneak & archery. Shoot and roll away, shoot and roll, etc. It works but it takes me sometimes 30 minutes to take one of these down. I've yet to run into two and hope not to.

Edit: Currently dealing with two outside Rorikstead. Fortunately a dragon damaged one a little. Going to be a long battle though.
