Defender1
So I noticed my card was starting to age & found a good deal on a moderate upgrade so decided to splurge & pick it up. I upgraded from a Radeon HD 5850 to the 6870. After installing the card I updated my drivers and when I went to play Skyrim I get all these digital artifacts popping in all over the place & the game looks like ass. See the attached screenshots for examples. (I've put them in spoiler tags as they're a bit large.) The rest of my specs: Core I7 930 @ 3.8ghz8 gig DDR3Windows 7 SP1Driver: Catalyst 12.3Skyrim Ver 1.4.27.4 Any ideas? I just can't play the game like this! http://home.comcast.net/~steve6306/misc/Skyrim/BadGfx01.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~steve6306/misc/Skyrim/BadGfx02.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~steve6306/misc/Skyrim/BadGfx03.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~steve6306/misc/Skyrim/BadGfx04.jpg
WizardOfAtlantis
Yes, this happened to me recently. It happened when I upgraded my Catalyst Control Center ( I have a Radeon HD 5870) when I was prompted to do so by automatic updates. I've found three options to try for a working solution. One is to roll back to an earlier version of the CCC. The one that came out in December worked for me before. I'm running 12.1 now. Is that the latest? Anyway, the problem exists because of an Anti-Aliasing problem while using the game's own AA ticked off in the Skyrim launcher. Solution Number 1 is to disable AA in the Skyrim Launcher and use the card's AA by going in your Catalyst Control Center and under the gaming/image quality options make sure the "Use application setting" is not checked, thus using the card's own AA. I found this didn't work as well, AA-wise, but it certainly solved those pixelly-glitches immediately. Another solution I found on the internet was to have the "use application settings" box checked but have the AA and Anisotropic settings exactly the same in the Skyrim launcher and the CCC. Hope this helps! It was certainly annoying as Gehenna for me until I figured something out. http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/tongue.gif
