Pitvrug
To explain: My friend showed me Skyrim a couple of weeks ago and obviously I'm very keen on getting the game. However, he warned me that he had to download somewhere around 1Gb to update the game and I don't currently have the bandwidth to do that. So, would it be possible to somehow buy the game, install it, copy his version onto my machine (for the updates) and then activate it or whatever on Steam? BloodSteyn
Yep, Skyrim is an awesome game. However the Steam system is a PITA. In South Africa bandwidth costs a fortune and downloading forced updates from Steam (which cannot be disabled - even if the option is set) gets expensive very quickly. We want to know if any one has ever tried this. I know you can "Migrate" your Steam folder to another drive, then ask Steam to Check the game's integrity. Would it be possible for my friend to install Skyrim (after buying it on DVD), then I copy my Skyrim folder (with updates) over his. Once done we ask Steam to check the game's integrity and hopefully it wont have to download a ton of updates. In Theory it might work, I want to know if anyone's ever tried something like this. This is not to Pirate a game, just to get it updated without wasting time and money.
