How to create animal follower?

Hi everyone this is my first post on this forum, Im a total noob at modding and just started. I have some knowledge of the creation kit and how to make followers but when I tried to create a wolf follower it didnt work. I can get the wolf in the game with custom name correct size and is unagressive but it doesnt have any option to talk to it. I gave it a male brute voice but it still doesnt give me the option to talk to it, it only comments when I get close to it but nothing more. So does anyone know how to make this wolf follow me I followed this video to make my follower:

using this video my other followers work fine. One more question how do I make my wolf follower do more damage? Thanks in advance for your help

I got stuck on this too. It's because it's an animal, and not a human or khajit or argonian or what. Try looking at the WEFollowerDog Actor, as an example of an animal follower, and try learning how to make one off of him. It's how I did it.

Do you know what I'm missing? I put the dog follower script in the script for the wolf but it still wont work

I know I'm about a year late in helping with this but I think I have a solution to your problem, as well as the problems of others. When you click on the actor (in your case, the animal companion) look under where you put in the name, etc. There's a button that says dialogue; click it.

 

Now the fun part: Experiment! I gave my wolf follower an actual voice, as if he was a human(oid) follower.

The reason you can't make the animal a follower is because you need dialogue to get the relationship started. You can't access the dialogue because it hasn't been added yet. Fix that, hit the right buttons and click the right things, and you've got a new pet to love, cherish, and kill with!
