Hi, hello, I need help. I read the lovely How to ask for Help forum post and I think I followed all the steps and yet... Here I am. I'm a beginner modder and need help from a more experienced modder on how to created an npc follower with a chargen racemenu created face. I've been following the steps from the Nexus Mod Wiki walk through and it's not been working, someone please help me, and I promise you a crisp internet high-five

This tutorial might be a bit overkill but he goes through what each field does which is good to know for future mods

Edit: might need more info. Do you want to create the face ingame?

Yeah I definitely want to use the face I created in Racemenu ingame, but that's the step that's not working, but thank you for the reply <3

What mesh? The head? Could you give more details? Do you have a working follower now? Because I believe I know how to fix it but need more info.

Okay, so I have a working follower, correct stats, I can befriend him, marriageable, etc. I managed all that through the CK and successfully placed him in the world, in The Winking Skeever to be exact. My only problem is that I used Ahtar in the CK to create a new form, named him Sabik, did everything I aforementioned, but when I follow the steps in this http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Using_a_face_made_with_Chargen_Extension_on_an_NPC_for_Skyrim tutorial, nothing seems to work in regards to his face mesh and textures. I've been stuck with my npc follower with the correct everything, skin color, hair, eyebrows, you name it, except his face mesh and textures are that of Ahtar. I think I've been able to get the correct mesh, which I can't really describe how, except I deleted everything in his mesh folders but the mesh I made using Racemenu and NifMerge and I think it worked, I'm not 100% sure. Please reply if you need any more information, and thank you so much for being patient with me

Okay so it was racemenu. I don't know much about racemenu I'm afraid. Sounded like it was only a vanilla head. But did you do ctrl-f4? That will update his head to what you created instead of Ahtar.

Copy/pasted from a thread I found:

"If you create new npcs in mods you need to make sure they get their relevant meshes and textures as well (which you can get from the creation kit by pressing CTRL+F4)." Ctrl+F4 in the npc list. Highlight your created npc and press ctrl+f4. Save.

But since this is about the racemenu mod I am not sure if it works the same way. But it should :)

EDIT: It did say in that tutorial as well. Could it be that simple perhaps?

Here's the same thing as I wrote but from the tutorial you linked:

"Once you are done, press the Ctrl+F4 keys as explained here Fix the NPC face colour to create the nif and dds files for the NPC. These files are stored at the folder:

the nif file will be located at: (install folder)\Data\meshes\actors\character\FaceGenData\FaceGeom\MyPlugin.esp\

the dds file will be located at: (install folder)\Data\textures\actors\character\facegendata\facetint\MyPlugin.esp\

with the name of your esp file instead of MyPlugin.esp."

I'm sorry to say I've been trying that all along. I think you're correct in thinking something is wrong with racemenu, or it could be the fact I use CitrusHeads, so basically I'm back to square one, with a perfectly made npc follower with Ahtar's face
