Alexesche
I am having those precise issues. I do not have an answer to this problem nor do I know where to begin to look, but I as long as I am having these issues I will continue to seek a solution. <Edit> I should mention that I have never used any Mods that affect lighting or shadows, which is why I was surprised to have this type of problem. Tom133t
I am having the same issue since the 1.5 patch. I believe it has something to do with a change to the shadow rendering in-game. According to the 1.5 change log, it "made shadows on grass available". This can be done by adding bShadowsOnGrass=1 to your skyrimprefs.ini. I have tried =1 and =0, neither have any effect. Here's what I've tried, without luck so far:-Removed all mods-Tried different shadow settings (Low, Medium, High, Ultra)-Tried an older save -Tweaked my .ini files, as mentioned above-Deleted my .ini files and let Skyrim generate fresh ones-Tried a lighting mod, hoping that a tweak would overwrite the issue. No luck.-Updated my video drivers, which actually made it worse This is a really annoying issue. As Dodger said, there's a square shadow that follows my character in 3rd person mode. Shadows from tree canopies actually rotate around as I walk, and shadows on rocks are very jumpy.Interior cells are even worse, with light jumping around as I walk, as if two separate light sources are fighting for dominance. Does anybody have any other insights into this? It's game-breaking for me. Edited March 22, 2012 by Tom133t
troyka
I also have a shadow issue... and i also tried everything to get rid of them aside uninstalling the game... I have weird shadows moving all around and even appearing at some places (probably over extended shadows of small items) and in some other palces where there should be shadows there is none( in towers for example) If there is a way to fix this i would be glad to know soon... Is there anyway to contact skyrims support?   I've been looking for the way to for a while now...
Tom133t
I managed to fix it by downgrading to 1.4.Of course, you need to have a copy available to you. If you have a Steam friend who hasn't been on in at least a week and has Skyrim, get a copy of TESV.exe from them, and overwrite yours (make a backup, of course). Then disable automatic updates in Steam. I'll miss the new killcams, but this works for me.
fakedesign
Any fixes apart from finding a friend who's got an old copy of the game? Unfortunately that's not an option for me. I've had the moving shadows bug for about 2 weeks now and it's driving me crazy :/

I've got no problem with pixelation or anything like that: when I move the camera around I see huge shadows swooping everywhere, both indoors with localized lightsources and outdoors. I think the hardware question may be relevant though. I've got an Nvidia Geforce GTS250.
MorwynKelm
Check the SkyrimPrefs.ini for the iShadowFilter value, set it lower, to less than 3.
