Hi, believe it or not i am playing DAO for first time now (thats the hard part to believe , i know) and i love it (that is easy to believe i think). I also learned about Mods that make this beautiful game even better, alas i have no clue how to either implement them or in future maybe create something myself. I would like to ask: how one starts using modes? What is needed? Generally I am looking for some help from ppls that went trough this stage before me. Everybody needs to starts somwhere:). Thanks.

Hi and congratulations for finally getting the game

When you want to install a mod you need the mod's .dazip file. Some mod downloads give you this directly, or they give you a .rar or .zip file that you need to unrar in order to get the .dazip (to unrar a file you need a software like winrar or 7-zip. 7-zip can in fact be downloaded right here on the nexus: http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579 ).

Once you have the .dazip, you can install it by using a mod manager like DAModder (http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=286 - my personal choice). Just start DAModder up, and drag and drop the .dazip file there. DAModder will do the installation for you.

Done, now the mod is installed to your game.

NOTE: Remember to always read the mod descriptions of everything you download. Some requires other mods to be installed first or similar, in order to run properly.

While amycus is correct about a certain type of mod, most do NOT get installed with DAModder. (Or anything at all, for that matter.) Most are simply extracted from the archive, and placed in the appropriate "\override" folder.

Much more information about all kinds of Dragon Age mods can be found here: Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies.

After your've reviewed that, feel free to come back here with any questions.

Happy (modded) Gaming!
