joshua121
Hi everyone, I'm currently making a bunch of Enclave Propaganda Posters for a mod I'm working on, some of them are going to be for military purposes (morale, brainwashing, etc..), and others will be for certain areas of the mod, (Engineering section, Delta Labs Section, etc...). When I'm done with them I want to release them separately as a modder's resource. However I'm starting to run out of lines/dialogue to put on the posters. So I need some fresh ideas, if any of you out there want to throw some suggestions my way, I would be very very appreciative. Here's what I have so far... http://dragontreestudio.com/images/fnv/Enclaveposters_Mashup.jpgThanks in advance. Wauthan
While all of them looks nice only the "Together for victory" comes across as a typical propaganda poster. Propaganda, especially in the style of the fallout theme, tends to be groanworthy hamfisted and corny. In a way yours look a bit too serious. Worth1000 has regular Fun with Propaganda photoshop contest that could perhaps give you some ideas.

I did a lot of looking through what was there, and revamped a lot of my work thanks to you. I appreciate the feedback. "Holding the High Ground" picts of Ride of the Vertibirds This was a cool idea, so I added it to the posters. I'm still looking for more ideas for posters. Though I think I should mention that these posters are going to be post war, for use inside of Enclave facilities, nothing that would have been displayed to the public. Basically a means to brainwash the soldiers and such. Thanks very much everyone, and best regards.
VaultPi
Close up of an Eyebot"The Price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance" it's kinda easy just take anything that can be a common slogan that just happens to have pun/double speak potential. Wauthan
The new version of the posters look much better IMO. The problem is that the colours you're using are sort of bleeding into each other. This makes it difficult to see the image, especially if they are both damaged and at a distance. Not a problem if you're going for huge billboards in-game. But smaller than that and it will be sort of difficult to see any details. Sadly that would mean that your posters will quickly become "background noise" rather than set a mood. Hope I can give you creative feedback: I can easily see that you're going for screenshots as a base for the posters and then improve them with photoshop. I think you could make things even easier by using some of the mods here at the nexus. My advice would be to grab a weather mod with really nice clear blue skies. Nevada Skies is tough to beat there. And the special moods will help with the intimidation posters. Next the Imaginator. This would let you set a "photo quality" that's uniform for all the posters. Now for "paper quality" install Cinematech and choose a setting that doesn't desaturate the colours but creates strong contrasts. This will make it easier to see details in your posters. Perhaps Dynavision 2 could help to really bring the focus of the poster into view. If so you might as well save yourself some UI juggling and install Directors Chair. A mod created to support these kinds of projects. You're poses and messages are very appropriate. Though a bit unfortunately combined together. You probably already have For a Few Poses More installed.Remember that you're trying to make the viewer love the Enclave, not fear them, and create hate for it's enemies. Pictures with armoured soldiers should be saved for messages of unstoppable power or unbreachable protection. The enclave is trying to reach common people after all, so pictures with happy "normal" people in nice pre-war clothing is good for general messages or information. Feral ghouls, supermutants and especially centaurs attacking the viewer are perfect for scary messages. These creatures with their distorted hideous human faces are absolutely perfect for scaring people into obedience. 1. Aiming for a better tomorrow today. - Well he looks badass but why is he aiming at the viewer? Is the viewer the enemy? Why is he hiding his face? "A better tomorrow - Today!" is more direct and propagandaish. A classic pose would be the armoured soldier kneeling protectively next to a child and pointing into the distance. A young man and woman in in pre-war clothing looking into the distance against a beautiful landscape would also work. If you want it to be an agressive poster the same message works with a soldier either aiming at a human enemy or having killed an abberation. 2. Rember! A Clean workplace is a safe workplace. - A good message but not a propaganda poster. If you got Old World Blues installed then a young woman in a nice "science" get-up posing in a laboratory next to a vacuum cleaner would work. This is, after all, a message to the researchers assistants. And cleaning in the pre-war falloutiverse was indeed the womans job. 3. Together - For victory. - Perfect propaganda poster save for the fact that it's the same face repeated. The armoured soldier could be in the foreground, since he looks like an officer, and if your using Dynavision 2 you could have ordinary enclave soldiers in the background saluting. You don't actually want the Enclave soldiers, the good guys on these posters, to look like a scary faceless horde. 4. Delta labs - Well you really need scientists and engineers posing around some war machinery like a vertibird, giant gun or robot. The current one is simply not very good. 5. Real soldiers obey orders. - Message makes no sense with the image. Should be of a human enemy or possibly supermutant acting sneaky or cowardly. Possibly while an enclave officer looks on in disgust. Or it could be a NCR soldier fleeing from an enemy while an enclave soldier stands his ground. 6. Doing what must be done to purify humanity - This would not be on a propaganda poster. This is a threat or a pretty uncomfortable truth depending on what side of the enclave you are. Perhaps "Ours is the burden - We shall not falter" is a better message since it makes the actions of the enclave seem noble? Posing soldier with his back turned to the viewer walking away from a pile of dead feral ghouls perhaps? 7. Marching towards a purer America - Good poster as it is. Text needs a contrasting colour though. Perhaps "Marching towards a new America" is better? Purer sounds strange and a bit obsessive. 8. The human race needs you! - A classic. Change the text to "The Enclave Army (or whatever their armed branch was called) needs you! The Enclave, after all, didn't really want to save all humans. 9. Stop idle chatter - Heh? Sorry, that doesn't work well. The enclave are not robots after all. A RL example is "Loose lips sinks ships". Perhaps "Defeat - just a careless word away." With a supermutant nightkin posing menacingly over a fallen enclave soldier, possibly with a regretful civilian looking on. 10. Holding the Highground - Very good. If the soldier was looking at the vertibirds and saluting it would be even better. 11. The Price for Freedom is Eternal Vigilance - I would switch that around to "Eternal Vigilance - Securing our Freedom!" and have a whole mob of eyebots against a clear blue sky. The eyebots should appear to be friendly on a propaganda poster after all. Edited March 26, 2012 by Wauthan

The eyebots should appear to be friendly on a propaganda poster after all. That is some seriously well thought out critique and I really appreciate it. I will definitely take some of it into consideration. Either I didn't mention this or didn't make this clear, but these posters are going to be for inside of a secret enclave facility where thousands of soldiers will be in stasis. None of these posters would have ever been used for the "public". Some of them are for officer only areas, such as the "Doing what must be done to purify humanity". These posters are for more than just propaganda, but for safety and other stuff as well. As I said they're part of a really big mod I'm working on. Like the Vertibird poster for Delta Labs, that one is of a place you'll run into, so it fits only this mod, and wouldn't be part of any resource package. I've done quite a few safety posters for the engineering and industrial areas of the facility. Here are some examples of the safety posters. http://dragontreestudio.com/images/fnv/safetyposters.jpg Not to say that I don't like your feedback, in fact your feedback has been great, and I really appreciate it. I've already updated the "idle chatter" poster to use "Careless Talk" instead, and I also really liked your suggestion about "Purer America", that one I changed to "Better America". As far as the "Good Soldiers Obey Orders" poster, that is admittedly the weakest one of the lot. I was grasping at straws when I made that one, which is why I started this post in the first place. I've been trying to think of a caption that would actually fit the image, like "Enclave Strong" or something like that. Though I don't like "Enclave Strong" or I would have used it. The point is I'm open to suggestions. Thanks again and Best Regards, Joshua

Skyviper086
I'm getting this from some fallout 2 dialog from the Enclave base. Have a picture of an Enclave trooper with the captain above his head. :: No chewing bubble gum over the com link:: Okay not really funny I admit so how about these. A picture with two vertibirds and a soldier in the center. The vertibirds are to the left and the right of the soldier. The caption: You are the future's guardian. A picture of an Enclave soldier saluting the flag. Captain. For Duty, Courage and Honor. Have a soldier in an Enclave dress uniform or something. A simple caption with Enclave and whatever their slogan is. I like your posters. Real soldiers obey orders is also a good poster. I don't think its cheesy. The time frame for this game is like the fifties so you would see that kind of thing back in world war two. Besides in Fallout 2 you got to dress up as an Enclave soldier and went around doing whatever. So maybe a solider was given an order and didn't follow it he could be a spy. I'm just saying. It's your world don't let people tell you what's possible and impossible in your world.
