vikiwuzhere
alright, so i've used tes5edit before with no issues, but i recently bought the rest of the skyrim dlcs with some christmas money and wanted to go ahead and clean the masters beforehand. i follow gopher's guide exactly, but keep running into the same error. i clean the master, go to close tes5edit to save it, and it says it failed to rename the esm file. im using mod organizer, so the cleaned master gets put in the overwrite folder. i read somewhere that someone just renamed that one and put it back in their skyrim data folder, but tes5edit doesn't recognize it once you do so i'm not sure if the game will either. everywhere i read said that this is most likely a permissions error, but i've tried everything i could think of. running tes5edit as admin, going to the skyrim folders properties and turning on all permissions for myself, etc. my skyrim folder is on another drive, and not under program files. everytime i clean a master and it fails to rename it, i have to verify the integrity of game files via steam to get the .esm file back because its gone. this isn't game breaking, but i'd really like to get rid of the unnecessary scripts and stuff added by the unclean masters.
