I think that many Fallout 4 players (and me too) would like to wear a field scribe outfit because it looks really good, but a problem is that it gives very slight protection bonuses and no charasteristic bonuses at once, so it can't be good even on start. It is logical that there is no sigbificant protection bonus, but considering that the scribes are "intelligence" units of the Brotherhood it would pretty logical to give it a slight intellegence or perception bonus - +2 or +1/+1 like regular clothes bonuses.
