jmike00
I'm trying to add a few custom weapons but I cannot find where to specify the 8 digit object ID number. I'd like for all my weapons to follow a series and to ensure no conflicts with other mods from my end but it seems the CK auto assigns them. I know it's possible to use specific numbers since there are plenty of mods out there that do this but do you need to use an additional editing program other than the CK to be able to do this? Kurron
This is the first I've heard of assigning the numerical ID manually, I didn't think it was possible - or necessary for that matter - but I'm no expert. Could you give us an example of a mod that does this?
jet4571
You can use TesVsnip to change the EDID number. Question is why bother? the first 3 zero's are place holders that get replaced with the load order number so even if you make the number the same as someone elses mod when you load the game it will always be different. jmike00
This is the first I've heard of assigning the numerical ID manually, I didn't think it was possible - or necessary for that matter - but I'm no expert. Could you give us an example of a mod that does this? Mystic Elven is a good example, all the items from that mod are in sequence. A couple of the mods I've been working on, the item IDs aren't sequential but really I never gave it a second thought. What caught my attention was I ran across a two mods, Elven GreatBlade and Barbarian Axe from the same author that wouldn't work with each other because an item from one mod shared the same ID as the other. I'd like to think it's no big deal but I'm not the most experienced modder and would like to avoid that mistake if it's possible.
jet4571
If those 2 mods conflicted then most likely one of them was using the other as a master.
