SSE Creation Kit Just Decide To Not Start? Check This Solution..

Apparently, the CK looks in folders it shouldn't. I keep a folder "Main Mods" with sub-folders accordingly to there purpose environmental, animation, etc... Well I also work in these folders sometimes opening a mod I'm working on making changes re-zipping and installing sounds neat and clean.

Well, it isn't the creation kit for some dumb reason looks in all folders/sub-folders and sometimes it's not a problem but occasionally it crashes the kit. Certain folder names, extra long names, perhaps number and _- combinations. I don't know but this is the second time I spend all day re-downloading the kit and re-installing mods. I see alot of people with issues and wanted to share this because I found it by sheer luck the first time and finally remembered after working all day trying to solve the issue. I knew the CK stopped for apparently no reason before but there's always a reason. I knew it stopped after opening a folder I left open and making changes to a mod but forgot until later in the day how I fixed it the last time.

I just deleted the folder and problem was solved. I put it back to see what exactly it was whether it be the folder name or something inside in this case I knew it wasn't a .bsa because I opened it to extract the .bsa I tend to get rid of them myself but left the folder behind.

In this case I restored the folder and the culprit was the folder name: modwhatever 1_1 either it doesn't like the 1_1 which after taking it off the kit loaded or there were alot of blank spaces (if possible) after the 1_1 as originally the mod had a very long name which causes issues too when I back up my game drive to my larger external hard drive so I shorten everything I get to a reasonable length or it says name length too long want to skip file and do same for rest? This causes your hour or hours of backup time to go down the drain. It can be avoided by copying a few folders at a time then it ignores the issue but better to keep folder names and files short I learned.

Why the CK looks into folders and subfolders I haven't a clue shouldn't be. Well hope this helps anyone who reads this and it fixes your problem especially if you gave up trying to fix your CK. I only found it by accident the first time knew only other thing I did was extract a mod into a folder. Of course I assumed the worst again like today and re-installed everything. Now where was I last night??
