Shield plaque inconsistencies

Ok... I had managed to get the shield plaques working in my mod with the help of some members. Worked out that I mismatched the activators.

Gave the mod a test run to make sure that it worked. Booted up the game, activated the console and COC commanded into the mod (which gives you a fresh character at level 0). The shield plaques operated as they should. BEUWDY!!!

When I have entered the the house with my game character (I run the mod in my current game to check for issues) and then try to activate the shield plaques, it looks for a weapon instead of a shield and then leaves it in the air beside the character!

As a fresh player COCed into the cell it works correctly. Using a saved game with an established character creates malfunctions.

I am assuming that it may be something in the saved game file, particularly seeing I run the mod in my general game.

Does anyone have any idea why the difference in activator responses with the pre-saved character? Is there a console command that might clear this issue with the saved game?

I'm not real sure what all exactly the PCB console command does, but have you tried that? It seems to me that it purges at least some outdated info in saves. As long as you save again after doing the command.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try.

The other thing that I thought of after posting the OP was to deactivate my mod, create a save in my game, exit the game. Reactivate the mod and see if the new save is clean.

I'll give both a try and see how I go.

I appreciate your advice.

De-activating your mod and re-saving your game may correct the problem, but there no guarantees. The sad truth is that there are many things that get copied into save games at may or may not be removable.

The likelyhood is that using a game character that already uses a mod (any mod) and then changing the mod WILL cause issues, even it you don't immediately notice them.

One thing that MAY work for you in this instance is to...

1) Select your reapon rack and all asociated bits

2) Move it out into the grey void

3) With everything still selected press Ctrl+D to duplicate it all

4) Move the duplicate back to where the original was

5) Delete the original.

Your saved character won't have any references to the "New" weapon rack so it might work properly.
