hi, so today i decided to restart my modding with the new skyrim special edition which i have not played before, so i installed mod organizer 2 and tried to install the latest verision of SKSE into mod organizer the way i remebered doing it a couple years ago. but mod organizer 2 simply won't find SKSE at all. Is there a new way of doing it? why isn't mod organizer finding SKSE? would appreciate as much information surrounding this as possible since i haven't played or modded in a long time and could use some catching up.

which file did you install , where did you install it and how?

since it sounds like you're modding SE for the first time , do you know that there is a different version of SKSE for SE? I believe it's called SKSE64 (at least that's what it was called last time I checked)

so make sure you install the correct type of script extender

beyond this it's probably something you did wrong , so what did you do?

sorry for being so bad at this haha, latest i played was back in 2015, so what i did first and foremost was that i installed mod organizer, no problems with that at all. then i went and installed what i guess is the "normal" SKSE i installed that manually by dragging all the SKSE named files into my game directory (not my data folder). when i had done that prevouisly it detected SKSE right away, but that was not the case this time though.... i'm gonna try doing it now with the different SKSE. sorry for being such a noob and thanks for the help!

we were all beginners once

I am just here for a few years now , and have modded quite a few games , so I've learned quite a lot about this

one suggestion though is to find a proper beginners guide and follow it , to at least understand the basics (and you should note that Skyrim and SE are different , and there are differences with modding both games)

for example , I'm pretty sure most guides will tell you to use MO2 for SE , while normal Skyrim should be modded with MO

use google or search around youtube or here , there are plenty of guides for modding , and just follow one with at least the basics , which should give you the knowledge needed to properly mod your game

yea started to watch a couple of guides, have modded quite a bit a long while ago... but i have encountered another problem now... when i click download with mod manager it doesn't download, however downloading manually works... would be appreciated if you maybe had any knowledge about this... sorry for asking so much haha

when you try to download with manager , it's supposed to present a box where you are supposed to check which program to download with

and in order to download with MO (or any other mod manager) , you need to set it to handle Nexus links

this is very easy to do , but you should check how to do this for your mod manager

and you do need to make sure the pop up box does appear when you press the "download with manager" button
