Installing & removing mods tutorial

Thanks for reading.

The Nexus Mod Manger is a bust. So it looks like I am going to have to manually install mods.

I have FOMM.

Is there a tutorial on installing and removing mods, and organizing the load order so that they run well?

I want to try mods out and then remove them if i don't like them, but some mods overwrite some files. How do you keep them all organized and straight so that they can be removed without damaging the game?

Thanks for any help.

NMM is a bust? how so?

And FOMM is pretty straight forward to use, any mod manager program usually uninstalls the mod completly when you remove it from your game. so you don't have to manually track down the files.

But then again so Does NMM, and one is going to get a lot more support than the other at this point.

Thanks for the reply.

NMM is a bust because I have installed and reinstalled several times.

When I get to the login screen, I enter the same information I use to get into the nexus but keep getting "login information invalid".

I have tried doing this with and without a firewall.

I have tried asking questions to find out why and all I seem to hear is reinstall.

With regards to the FOMM, I have found the install instructions, but nothing with regards to how to take the meshes and textures for 1 mod and add/remove them to/from the game. If you have a link you could direct me to, that would be appreciated.

Thanks

When using FOMM, launch the package manager and use the Add/create button on the top right side to add mods to your list. You can organize them, add information like the mod author and the nexus page the mod came from etc. When you want to install a mod, just select it and hit the Activate button, or double click it. So long as it's package correctly (with the mod files being in the root of the archived folder), then FOMM will install everything exactly as they should be.

Many mod authors upload their files in a format that will easily import to FOMM with no issue. To check that a mod is ready for adding to FOMM, just open the archive. If the first thing you see in it is folders like "meshes", "textures", and some ESP files, then you can just add it straight to FOMM and you're good to go. FOMM will handle installing all the files, and keeps track of which ones are added by what mods, when a file overwrites another one, and other such stuff. When you uninstall a mod, FOMM will remove the files, and replace the ones that mod overwrote (if any).
