Grey Face on one save only

Hello everyone,

I have a small issue, on my main character's savegame (which is very old) i have Aela with a greyface. On the other hand if i make a new game and go see Aela with a new character she has a normal face (from Bijin Warmaidens). This tells me that there are no mods conflicting. I've checked with TES5Edit and saw that immersive weapons edits Aela and many other NPCs which dont have grey face bugs and also have Bijin such as Njada Stonearm. Njada on my main character does not have a grey face she has the bijin one although she is touched by immersive weapons the same way Aela is.

TLDR:

Aela has grey face on my main save, but starting a new game with the same mods shows her with a proper face and i would love to know why and how to fix this. Thank you

You probably got older, conflicting data regarding Aela and other NPCs affected by the grey face bug in your "main save". NPC data can and will get baked into saves under certain cirucumstances, especially if you use console commands like "setnpcweight" or use anything (including mods) that changes the Facegen data of NPCs. So the "problem" lies in your older saves.

Changing your load order or something won't help in this case - the fact that you don't have problems with a newer save shows that your mods are basically set up correct.

You can try to solve your issue using a save game cleaner. A step by step instruction for this can be found on "loverslab". I'm not sure, if I'm allowed to link to it dircetly here. So just google "Skyrim grey face bug" and read the first thread from LL, that Google shows you. What "Duchess" says about Housecarls there should also apply to Aela and the like.
