Making Mila Valentia a adult companion and follower

*sigh*

My install of Skyrim crashed and burned recently, after I attempted to uninstall a new mod. Suddenly I was dealing with NPCs all having extremely broken meshes around their legs, so I reinstalled Skyrim and I've spent the last two days of my spare time getting my mods back. Normally I would just work on your mod now, but I've decided not to reinstall UNP.

Since I no longer have UNP and I just spent twelve hours cleaning up my install, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to risk installing another piece of equipment from a body mod that I don't have, so I can't make your mod. Last time I did that, I broke my save again.

Sorry about that man...

Hopefully someone else takes this up for you.

Have you used the Creation Kit yourself before? I haven't used it with Skyrim yet, but from what I've seen, it functions exactly the same way Oblivion's construction kit did. I made some campanion mods for Oblivion and felt that, with absolutely no modding experience, about watching 10 minutes worth of tutorials and spending maybe an hour of dicking around, I was able to create some very effective follower characters.

Take a look at this tutorial:

If you follow these steps, you'll get a pretty good idea for the basics of adding an NPC to your game world, using the game's resources. The video doesn't really cover this, but if you want to incorporate resources from other mods (Leatherbound Huntress, or the hair mod, for example) you just have to check off those .esp files when you're loading the data, alongside the skyrim.esm file.

That said, this should at least give you the tools to add an NPC named "Mila Valentia" into the game world, wondering around the cell you place her in, and carrying the gear you want her to have. So that's a start, at least. You'll obviously want to remove the child version, which I think you'll figure out once you've spent some time getting to know the CK layout a bit.

Beyond this, I don't really have any experience. After you get this far, try messing with the other properties, follow more tutorials, and see if you can figure out things like scripting their daily routines (where they sleep or what they do during daylight hoursr), how to make them become a follower, dialogue, combat stats, marriageability, etc. Creating quests is a whole other challenge, but just take this one step at a time, be patient, and don't bump your thread unless you've got something to add :)

I would download something like this.

Don't forget to make her mother look older, whoever does this. (As I recall, Mila was daughter of that one lady who you help out by taking care of an annoying suitor)
