donkaran
So after reading a post on /r/gaming about how dull the combat is in Skyrim, i couldn't help but remember the ideas i had about the combat system when they announced the perk system for Skyrim. First off, i want to start off by completely redesigning the way the combat system works.I'm currently trying to make a spreadsheet of a new perk tree for one handed. But here is the thing; because i have absolutely no experience with any modding tools whatsoever, i'm looking for people that might be intrested in trying to design a new combat system for Skyrim. This could just remain an idea, a very small project or a very large project ( Changing the way the combat works, all combat related perks, weapon and armor stats, new combat animation, ... )But it all depends on whether actual modders ( unlike me ) have any intrests and how many modders are actually willing to work on this project. If you want to talk more about this project and/or you are intrested, here is my E-mail :[email protected]( Prefer that you would add me on skype instead of E-mailing ) Thank you very much for reading.Leave your thoughts Link to my bethesda forums thread :http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1361687-looking-for-modders-for-a-combat-enhancement-project/
SinderionsBones
The biggest problem is you have virtually 0 control over combat in general >.< You can't add animations except by screwing a lot of stuff up(change the players race mid combat? really?). The control you do have over combat is largely for story element purposes. Things like one hit kills, and hits that don't do damage. You could modify hundreds of things and when the player actually played it the actual combat would not be altered much at all. There are endless combat stat tweak mods, almost not 1 of them do anything very noticeable when it comes down to it. The combat system has been roughly like this since Morrowind. Unfortunately the construction/creation kits are not at all designed to help modify the combat system.

But how about Combat related perks? Would it be possible to completely resdesign some of the perk trees?
Clipeus
I think the only ones currently trying to completely overhaul the combat system (with directional combat) is MERP team. The current system is what makes the game tedious after a while and not fun for me (ranged combat I find ok though).
TWarrior
there is t3nd0s overhaul which alters combat, there is deadly combat and realistic combat. all of them alter stagger, hit detection, ballncing etc. animations are not possible atm, maybe later. keep in mind skyrim is only 4 months old! oblivions deadly reflex took 5 years!and i think this should go to the mod request forum, since you ask others to do the combat mod for you :) TW

Syonryoken
@ Clipeus : Is it just not the same changing animations like it was in Oblivion? Oblivion Animations mods were crazy.
