Shadow Flickering

Sorry, I've searched all over the forum and seen issues similar to mine, but not the same.

Whenever I take a step, the textures in my game glitch out and start applying weird shadows. It doesn't happen whenever I stand still, nor when I am in dungeons/indoors.

My specs are as follows:

Windows Vista Home Premium

Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.00GHz

4.00 GB RAM

GeForce GTX 260M

It came about sometime after I update to 1.5 and installed the FXAA Post Process Injector, but I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and have not been able to isolate a problem. I've also screwed around with all the SkyrimPrefs.ini and Skyrim.ini files to no avail.

This video shows what happens when I move.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated

How far out do you have your shadows set? This line in SkyrimPrefs.ini:

fShadowDistance=xxxx.0000

It seems like you're either running out of RAM or something is getting skipped during the shadow processing steps and it's just shading it all as a result.

Are you on 32 or 64 bit WIndows? Are you running any ENBseries mods, or Realistic Lighting? FXAA PPI shouldn't cause this as it's only post processing (It affects the entire rendered frame, not objects during rendering).

I'm having the same issue with a GeoForce 260m as well. Someone else posted somewhere that their issue (same issue, also provided a picture) was fixed when they updated their graphics card drivers, and I think they also had a GeoForce 200 series driver.

I'm having trouble finding the appropriate place to get my driver, as Nvidia doesn't recognize my card and alienware doesn't have an update.

I appreciate the post, but that was the first thing I tried. Unfortunately, the update doesn't cover Hybrid graphics card systems, and alienware hasn't made an update on their end since 2008. I'm just screwed until I find a way to get a 1.4 version of skyrim or alienware's tech support gets back to me.

Thanks though! Hopefully this will help most people who see that post with this problem!

I appreciate the reply.

My fShadowDistance is set to 4000.0000 and I doubt I am running out of RAM.

I'm running a 64-bit Windows OS and aside from FXAA PPI don't have any shading mods.

I have had the exact same problem and at the time no mods.

I had to update drivers to see fog and lights.

It also started after updating the driver.

I have a GeForce GT 240 with the latest NVidia Skyrim driver.

With me its only after running a long time or coming back up from standby.

I suspect something related to the Driver gets hosed.

Sometimes it goes away if I can ignore it long enough.

Sometimes I have to reboot to eliminate it.

It is a minor problem on my system.
