MikeNexus
I have a problem with Esbern. It is not the usual problem. Everything works fine until he opens the door in the ratway and tells me to come in, I walk inside like he tells me to and I can't get him to talk to me at all, he just keeps going "come in, come in". It is killing me. I can't initiate the next dialogue. It doesn't seem to be triggering that I am in the room or something. I have tried all the usual fixes for Esbern: extracting the voices extra file into data, the thing with the skyrim.ini file and I have tried downloading the esbern voice file. Nothing works. Has anyone else here had that problem or knows a way to fix it? I have also tried killing him to get him out of it. I have updated to the lastest Skyrim update and I have tried going back to an earlier save. Nothing will get this guy to talk to me. Argh!!! MikeNexus
PS. The dialogue screen doesn't come up at all when I try to talk to him, it's as if I'm not in the room yet and he's waiting for me to come in.
MikeNexus
Um... I actually got the solution on the Esbern wiki. I had read it before but it wasn't explained very well for dummies like me and I didn't see the solution the first time. If anyone else has this specific problem just walk up to esbern, press the '~' (console) button, click on Esbern and his number will come up on the screen, then type setstage MQ202 170 and hit enter. then press the console button again and it should be fixed. Thank god I can finally get on with the game again!
