Realistic Stealth

Hey,

So I've been looking all over the internet for a realistic stealth mod to suit my tastes (I'm trying to make my game as immersive as possible). The closest I've come to finding what I want is Spekky's Bandits Overhaul, but that still doesn't do it.

Essentially, stealth should be a lot more focused on light and sound rather than level.

In Skyrim a low sneak level makes stealth practically impossible, and once you get stealth to a high level you can basically walk right in front of enemies without them noticing. Stealth should be more based on player skill than character level, regardless of whether you're a noob or a master ninja assassin extraordinaire, standing in front of someone a few metres away in a well lit area should be detectable, and vice versa if you were standing still in pitch darkness (I play with the realistic lighting mod and I feel that NPC's still have way better night-vision than I do, pretty much every fight in darkness starts from an enemy detecting me from the opposite end in a pitch black cave).

I'm suggesting:

  • Balanced level effect in detection calculations (difference between low and high level should have less of an effect than it does now, but still make a decent difference)
  • AI is more light and sound sensitive (Light on the player and sound they make should have a bigger effect in detection calculations)
  • It's easier to "lose" enemies - breaking visual contact with an enemy by either terrain/objects (running around a corner etc.) and light (running from a well lit area into darkness of the night) should remove the magical beacon that the AI places on you and have them aggressively search the last place they thought you were. They should search for you for much longer (3-4 minutes) and over a much larger area (rather than walking in circles), and if possible they should search in the general direction that you were heading (should be possible by calculating where the player is relative to the NPC at the time of them losing sight).

I'm a big fan of hit-and-run style of gameplay (I love games like Chronicles of Riddick) but right now stealth in Skyrim really isn't much better than it was in Oblivion (aside from town guards not being quite so psychic), and so far the only stealth mods I've found either just make stealth harder or easier, rather than balancing it and making what effects detection more realistic.

If anyone was up for doing this, I'd be happy to give them free web hosting for whatever they want :)
