chr0n0ss
Did you try the TESDTK (TES Dependency Toolkit)? And... what is this esp duplicating bug?
Elgen
hmm.. you might try to change the end of the filename to esminstead of esp.
Xeniorn
No I didn't. Can it be downloaded? If you edit an esp that you have in your save, next time you load it there will be two times more items from the esp. Ex. If you have an esp that adds a house in balmora, there will be two houses, one in another. If there is a NPC inside, there will be two npc etc. About Elgen's idea... it doesn't work
chr0n0ss
TESDTK? Yep, you can download it. Renaming won't work, but this tool can convert between each other. Concerning ESP bug: If you "visit" those objects, they are stored in the savegame - and the game has no way to decide if the objects in your modified mod are the same as in your savegame. I wouldn't call it a bug, but rather a lacking feature. I'm not sure if it can be implemented completely perfectly at all. Errr, BTW: You've also got a house in Balmora? :whistling:
Xeniorn
THX, chr0n0ss. I don't have a house in balmora, it's already overcrowded. I took it as example.
Marxist ßastard
...Duplication problems are just about the last reason why you'd want to convert a plugin to ESM format. If you've altered any references in your master files, those references will be doubled, no matter what you do. As opposed to having a select few things double when you make the mistake of working off a savegame you've used while testing your plugin, nearly everything that you didn't put in yourself will be duplicated, regardless of circumstances. ESM format lowers the priority of things in your plugin and introduces a plethora of doubling and support issues for the sole purpose of more freedom concerning dependencies, which is only useful for making "plugins to a plugin" or total conversions. In short, if you think you should convert your entire plugin to ESM format just because it's "cool" or you think it's some magic bullet to be used against doubling, you're a complete and utter idiot. Xeniorn
Actually, I am making plugin for a plugin. And also, there is no need to insult. I'm still just a beginner, and don't have tons of experience or 1000 posts in ms forums. BTW I don't have to actually use the esm, if I don't like the way it works, I'll just bring back the ol' esp, which I always have in backup. Marxist ßastard
...And why are you planning on making plugins for this plugin?
Xeniorn
'cause my friend made this plugin and doesn't want me to change the actual plugin. But he said I can make another plugin based on his one, and told me that I should convert his plugin to esm.
