BCbrad
No More snow!!! I can't take it anymore. I've had it with winter, yes yes Skyrim is north but surely it experiences summer. Snow on mountain peaks makes sense so that is fine, but I'd love to explore north Skyrim without snow. Is this mod possible? Maybe even a season's mod, am I pushing my luck? RaktoastTheSandwichTopper
no ur not pushing your luck bethesda showed a video where seasons were a possibility however i am unsure of the nexus communities abilities personally i have a rather short interest span (that's why i have like 6 different characters) so i get sick of scenery every so often so ya i'd like to see this (wow that took a long time to say nothing :P )
BlackCompany
Agreed. I avoid Northern Skyrim for this reason. I know, I know...its northern tundra. But I live in a Northern State (US) and just because you are further north...does not mean snow is twice as likely. Snow isn't just about cold. Its about season and weather patterns and moisture in the air, as well. And its far, far more common in Skyrim than is believable. Which makes it annoying as hell. AjaxSt
Keep in mind though, Skyrim is supposed to be FAR in the north. Think Sweden and Norway, where there is a lot more snow year-round than in the northern US. While I like the idea of having seasons, I think that just outright removing the snow would make the world less believable. I would still like to see this mod done, though. BCbrad
im in canada and we still get a few months of summerYep me too. Had about 4ft of standing snow and it is finally melting. I had read previously that Skyrim is approx 42miles wide and high, so it doesn't make a lot of sense for one end to be perpetual winter and the other never see a flake of snow. I understand what Beth is doing with a small landmass and if you walk from Riften to Winterhold the change is fairly gradual (at least I haven't noticed a snow line). Maybe we can change the name of Winterhold to Northhold and rid of the snow for atleast 4 months of the year. I mean even Alaska has a summer. KMA
im in canada and we still get a few months of summer Yes, but it is only two. ;) If we had as much running water as Skyrim (it is bloody everywhere), we would be up to our butts in snow by October, and stay that way until March (since the water does not freeze in the game). Like me you are probably in S. Canada. Try heading North right now to be parallel to the base of Hudson's Bay. They still have snow up there, and that would be the same as Southern Skyrim. Let me point out one last thing. If you can walk for 30 minutes and find glacial ice, you are in snow country. Many areas of the game have far too much green growing things for their climate, but I agree that monotone games get very tedious. As for climates - that was using procedural texture overlays. These are fake textures that are little more than random noise that they apply over the real texture. They are actually used in Skyrim for some snow overlays, and they look like complete ass. I tried to kill them all for my UberGrafix mod, but found that there were sever glitches if the textures were removed. So to do a seasonal mod would be possible but it would require a new landscape texture for every season (well 3 since one already exists). Then a script to check the season and load the correct seasonal model. It would take quite a bit of work, but is do-able. It would be much easier just to copy over all the snow variants with their non-snowy originals (as most are used for Southern landscapes), and just get rid of the snow for those that want it that way. Erikulum
You may want to look into Tropical skyrim http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33017/?maybe a little extreme but you sure won't see any more snow
