js303
As the subject says, when the game starts the main menu music becomes so choppy its unbearable to listen to.. I might just remove the main menu track altogether but if I can figure out the problem I will try to do what I can. I do have a lot of mods running and I understand my pc is prioritizing loading the game vs playing the music but I can't take it anymore. I have seen a thread suggesting to remove most of your saves from your saves folder but that didn't help me. AGreatWeight
The suggestion to remove (back-up to another folder) most of your saves is because when the main menu is loading, the game is also pre-loading data that your saves contain; if you have a lot of saves, especially if the file sizes of them are quite big, it can cause slowdown (and stuttering audio) as the game is reading that data. However, if moving most of your saves doesn't stop the audio still being messed up, then (whilst it's not unheard of that it could be somehow related to the mods you're using, even if unlikely) the only other suggestion I can give is to defrag the drive that Fallout4 is on, as well as making sure that there are no un-necessary processes running (various overlays like Steam or Nvidia stuff, certain anti-virus or anti-malware software etc) whilst you play your game. js303
"the only other suggestion I can give is to defrag the drive that Fallout4 is on" I'll give it a shot. I have a 2TB drive with 8gb ram.. I wonder how long it will take it looks like My PC is set to do a weekly defragment and I didn't even know about it... So I'm guessing doing that wont help?' AGreatWeight
It depends on what type of defrag it does. An optimized defrag (using an external defrag program) is generally better, as once it's gone through all your fragmented files, it optimized your data by basically bunching it all together; of course the result of the defrag can vary wildly, depending on just how space you've used on your drive. It might be better for you to simply replace the main menu music after all. You just need to convert some audio into an .xwm file, and make sure the file is called mus_maintheme.xwm -the Skyrim part of Nexus has plenty of converters available.Create a folder inside your Fallout4/Data folder, called Music, inside that create a folder called Special, and simply drop the .xwm file into that. js303
"It might be better for you to simply replace the main menu music after all." I've done that too, believe me. I'll try using a defrag program and see what happens.
