Question Regarding Skyrim Bone Weights

Hey everyone.

I recently ventured int othe realm of editing skyrim armor meshes and came across a "thing" that i have some questions about.

Based on the tutorials i read it is common practice to copy the boneweights for a modified / created armor over from the body that it is built on.

So i went and took a peek at the CBBE body, and when i saw the boneweights something inside me died ( i'm very orderly).

The boneweights are literally a mess, there are vertex groups called "left calf" that cover both legs up to the tights.

The "clavicle" vertex group extends down to the nipple. Generally the vertex groups are all over the place.

Now my question is, is that normal for a skyrim mesh or is this a fault of the modders? Doesnt it result in any problems with the meshes?

And secondly does anyone know a (modded) body mesh that has orderly neat and nicely done vertex groups & boneweights, as i would like to use it as a source for copying.

Thanks in advance

I personally rig everything to the BP_TORSO. From what I've seen, all I can say is that those extra partitions are for the priority settings in the armor addon tab (CK). Makes sure pants don't clip through boots, for instance. I think it lets skyrim know what part of a large mesh is actually what. Since meshes are joined much more than they were in Oblivion, the game has no idea what the difference is between pants and cuirasses. Those partitions tell it.

I found some meshes with other partitions as well, but they didn't survive the export process. One partition came out, and I set it to 32 (torso). Not the slightest bit of trouble.
