Antaris
Vampire, this has nothing to do with skse, it has to do with the patch .26 itself. There was already several ppl having this issue when they released a previous patch back in Nov. .24 leads to no appcrash. Something was changed in the new tesv.exe that leads to a kernelbase.dll modul fault under windows x64 in some hardware configurations BTW, I have the same appcrash since .26 EDIT: To be 100% sure I renamed the Skyrim folder and forced a complete new install. This way the game starts so what every is having compatibility issues with .26 didn't have with .24. Edited March 29, 2012 by Antaris
AngeGardien
for me i have no problem, i have tested it, it's don't help you butjust remember but try this if it's can help you, make sure when you copy the new skse, you have the tree file needed, you need only the sksk.exe and the two dll, if you overwrite, only two will be overwriting, you need to erase the other dll manually, if nothing going well, try whit the other skse they are one the same site, you have choice between two, try to make a validation of your cache file by steam... i have make some search, it's seem it's due to a corrupted data, again in the registry, so if nothing working i sugest you to try whit the programs "CCLEANER", it's correct most of the corrupted thing and clean your computer, if you have problem they will fix it, in the most time, it's peharp for that i have never a problem Ha Ha Ha! grandmabutch
In reply to AngeGardien...Thank you for the suggestion but sadly I have already tried what you suggested and it did not help me. I tend to think that the error is what Antaris stated because in my crash report it mentions the same KernelBase.dll file that he stated. However I do not know how to get around this problem and if anyone has a suggestion for that I would appreciate it. Thank you all for your responses and help :)
AgonyOfLife
I installed the latest skse and even tried to run skyrim without it at all and i still just get appcrashes immediately on startup. I wonder if it may be scriptdragon or somethin Yeah, I guess it's Script Dragon. You have to wait until it's updated to 1.5.26 but that should take a few days.Until then, rename/delete the "dinput8.dll" file in your main directory of skyrim. (Programs (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\skyrim). But keep in mind that all mods that depend on Script Dragon (it's 'additional hotkeys' for me) won't work until Alexander updates his Script Dragon. Have fun.
Jester814
Can someone upload a copy of the .24 exe for those of us whose games rely on script dragon?
grandmabutch
Just remove that dinput8.dll everything works fine (including script dragon and skse) What does that dll even do cuz without it everything works fine. THanks Jester Edited March 29, 2012 by grandmabutch
AgonyOfLife
Just remove that dinput8.dll everything works fine (including script dragon and skse) What does that dll even do cuz without it everything works fine. THanks Jester This specific dinput8.dll that caused the game to crash is part of the script dragon 'mod' (technically it's not a mod but who cares, right? ;) ). In short, the dll allows keyboard/mouse/controller inputs (like pressing a key on the keyboard or moving the mouse) to be bypassed directly into a specific program/mod/file/etc. If for instance you want more than the 8 hotkeys (default are 1-8 and you want F1-F10 to be hotkeys as well), vanilla skyrim wouldn't allow it, since it's optimized for consoles and the programmers at bethesda were too lazy to implement it on PC. That's where the dinput8.dll comes into play. It monitors your keyboard/mouse/controller inputs and parses it to a specific script file. And if you for instance installed "Extra Hotkeys" (found here), you're now able to extend your hotkeys. Basically that's what the dinput8.dll is there for :)No, I'm not 100% certain everything I tried to explain is correct so please correct me if I'm wrong. However, if you removed this dinput8.dll file due to incompatibility to the most recent patch of skyrim, this mod shouldn't work anymore ... until Alexander updates Script Dragon and provides us with an updated dinput8.dll file. Have fun.
