Silverz0
For those who dont know wow a quick google search should get you up to date just type in male blood elf im sure itll be like page one i digress. This is my favorite hair style in that game and would love for it to be available or to find out its available already or that there's a similar one(doubt). If this was made i would greatly apercaite it and make a companion with that hair :) Thank you in advance your friendly neighborhood modder :
SmilingAhab
the reason this can't exist is the same reason it was so indescribably hard to do in Oblivion, and even then with mixed results. The gamebryo engine just doesn't support it. There's a reason all the vanilla hair ends at the shoulders. Other modders can go into this in depth, but it's been tried. I tried it in Morrowind, and literally threw a laptop out a third story window in frustration.
SailorTaurus
I can't see why this would be so hard. I've seen plenty of ponytails and long hair for women in Skyrim already. Just look at Apachii's Skyhair. Heck, there's a Ren male ponytail in Coolsim's hair pack that looks close, only problem is the overly shiny texture. If you'd like to know why, see the limitations of the Gamebryo engine and follow the original thread that asked this question here. Basically, in Apachii's mod what you're seeing is a static mesh fused to the character's frame. It's still not actually free-flowing long hair. This is has always been a limitation of the game. Put on a set of Dwemer armor and see what happens to that long hair mesh. Let me know when you're done crying ^-^ Edited March 31, 2012 by SmilingAhab
Silverz0
@SmilingAhab yeah I understand Obivions limits to well, and to here that the we still still have to deal with this stuff is dum. In oblivion i ended up sticking with the ren hair actually it was enough for me i tried getting several other hairs(and i love to play in 3rd person :D) and my character head turns right but the hair sticks to my back , ren's was the most "natrual" (Ghost in the shell fans can just think motoko hair xD non moving plastic). Ive been trying to make my own hair for quite a while , but im gonna start doing some more research into this Gamebryo problem. i do beileive they have solved the shinny hair issue. Thanks for you help and support! If i find or make a good male pony tail i will post link here :) chow! @Sailortaurus I wish it was that easy buddy , sorry i couldn't give you a lengthy replay , but thanks for supporting the cause! Apachii actually went over the "shiny" problem, and it was related to the problem wherein that mod's hair would turn black around light sources - something about not supporting alpha channels. There's a missive on why the vanilla hairs were created either in the mod or on the description page that should shed some light on the problem. The Gamebryo problem overall is that it's more akin to Maya than an actual game engine, like Source or CryEngine. DGMR, I'm playing the s*** out of Skyrim, first game I've bothered to buy and play in years. But the Gamebryo engine was the University of Manchester (I believe) engineering department's architecture engine of choice. Saying something.
