EPDGaffney
From what I've gathered, Caravan and Blackjack and terminals and stuff like that are menus. Can we make custom ones?
dubiousintent
"Custom menus"? Yes. Several mods have done so, including "Darnified UI" and "The Weapon Mod Menu". The different background would just be "wallpaper" or an image the menu is overlaid upon. However, you will need to dive into the vague waters of XML structure in general and Bethesda's XML schema in particular, which they didn't publish and the community has only partially discovered. I've actually tried to research this topic and found only a very limited number of resources. The best of which was DoctaSax's. But he apparently didn't get any further on that than the Oblivion wiki. Just added the "XML" sub-section under "Misc Topics" in the wiki "Getting started creating mods using GECK" article. Theoretically XML should be your answer to how to display your "note" translation side-by-side as well. -Dubious- Edited January 23, 2018 by dubiousintent
EPDGaffney
My plan was basically to put up a wallpaper image and just use a message box to toggle between Latin and English as well as have a Cancel button to return to the game. All of this would be triggered at the press of a button in the Pip-Boy, provided that's as feasible as I'm naïvely assuming it should be.
EPDGaffney
My major trouble has been locating the function to make my menu come up and how to give it a background. Ever seen anything on that? Darnified UI appears to be a hidden file now and the Weapon Mod Menu looks integrated into the Pip-Boy.
dubiousintent
DarnUI isn't on the Nexus. DarNified UI NV Thread and download link. Website and forum. I would expect that what you want is essentially the same thing as laid out in the tutorial "Adding an Options Menu"; just a different purpose. -Dubious-
EPDGaffney
Thanks, Dubious. Unfortunately, I've realised that this is XML and that (as I understand it) it will conflict with other mods unless people use UIO, and as it's nowhere near the focus of my mod, I'm considering not doing it this way after all.
