Apalmemnom
Hi there ! I usually creating outfits for both Skyrim and Fallout, but something really bothers me : bone weights. When I work with Unity, this poses no problems since Maya is really practical to use in this way, long, but practical, but that's where my actual workflow is flawed, it's because Maya has incompatibilities with nifs, and so with Bodyslide which makes convenient bridge between Maya and Nifskope ; but concerning boneweight, sorry Ousnius, but it's a real pain in the ass. Convenient for a quick mapping, but modify it manually is like butter a toast with a trowel. Drunk. It works, but it's quite messy. That's why I'm currently trying to find a way to import/export bone weights for Bodyslide with Maya which is by far more adapted for that kind of work. Unfortunatly, while Bodyslide seems to be fbx friendly, in fact, it is not. Not at all. Every search I made ended up in a shadowy forum where poeple talked about scripts shared on dead links if not worst : talking about 3ds Max (yeah, I don't like it). So, if anyone has a good advice, a shadowy script or a secret sauce I've missed, I'll be really gratefull. Thanks by advance ! ehtyeci
If you're using Outfit Studio to get armor or clothing into the game, it means you are conforming to the standards of CBBE, AB, JaneBod and other BodySlide frameworked bodies, then why not use the copy weights function within OS? It literally eliminates manual bone weighting, and everyone has been content with importing just OBJs.
Apalmemnom
I'm already doing my outfits like this, and it's just really dirty to say the least, the result looks just like an auto skin in Maya, that's why I'm looking for better tools/methods to do it better than those.
