Mechanislt Lair - Is There A Good Mod?

I like the approach in the Mechanist Lair Overhaul mod, but covering the entire facility is a bit too much for my taste (way too much, actually). Not to mention that apparently the turrets added outside the entrance are hostile to the NPCs added to that area by Tales From The Commonwealth. (I guess you could delete them in console but, still, the entire facility is just too much imo.) The Mechanist Lair - Expanded Corrected and Fixed mod has a version that just affects the vanilla area but, unfortunately, apparently doesn't fix pathing/navmeshing. The description seems to (?) imply that laying floor tiles is a possible fix but jojje5's comments about the sandbox markers makes me think otherwise.

I went in and tried to lay a lot of floor hoping that would do it, but it did not. I also believe that something is causing the settlers cycle to be off. They will not sleep in a bed for me and I even made a little room right in the middle for them. Isabel follows the sleep cycle, but the settlers will not.

I also did not want to expand the settlement to the entire facility and the mod I used "Mechanists Lair Expanded Corrected and Fixed" had a file (version) that I thought would be great, however that mod did not work for me at all.

I did try to use those idle markers to get them to go other places but that had limited success. They just would not travel to far from the central area. Even if I laid a trail of "bread crumbs" they would only go so far.

I think unless a new updated mod is posted that this facility will be a crappy settlement. The "addkeyword" command will work just to get it functioning but it is not worth much time or effort. I sent Ada there just so I did not have to her jaw flapping when I got to close to her. Pity really.

A pity for sure. I'm not sure why Beth limited the area like they did (although I'm not sure why Beth does a lot of things). I know what you mean though, it pretty much sucks all the interest out from doing anything with it. (I coulda just ended that sentence at "sucks")

Weird that your settlers won't sleep though. I remember that mine were super finicky but I managed to get them all on the sleep cycle eventually. It was a tedious process of placing beds, saving, waiting 'til midnight, observing, reloading previous save, re-placing beds, etc... etc. I ended up with 4 beds tucked into the corner where the robot workbench originally was (but not further into the corner by the ramp) and a couple by the scrappable orange pillar just under the small broken catwalk piece to the left of the ramp leading up to Isabel's area (as you're facing that area) and, I think, another couple by the unscrappable large concrete pillar closest to Isabel's area and to your left as you're facing the elevator (about 10 RL feet outside the circular mechanist floor emblem).

I thought I may have to cycle through a number of days to get them to fall in line with what a normal settler would do, I just kind of gave up working for it. I did not see putting more time into it and even then just having a crappy settlement, so I gave up with the trials and just left it.

I have a couple of settlers there, and now Ada, and I will pop in once in a while but this is about it for this place unless a new updated mod gets posted.
