Found a potential UMON exploit, curious about the possibility of fixing it!

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but it does concern modding and GECK usage, so ...yeah!

I was experimenting with alcohol effects in the Prospector Saloon, when I realized it was possible to drink Trudy's entire stock of alcohol in one sitting with minimal chance of addiction. The trick is to never drink the same type of alcohol twice in a row. But it doesn't end with alcohol. This seems to work with any combination of drugs that share the same withdrawal effect. Based on the amount of drugs and alcohol I can consume this way before getting addicted, I think it erases your accumulated UMON, leaving only the drug's base addiction chance to determine if you get hooked.

I tested this further by spawning in some Jet and Ultrajet, and it seemed to behave the same way. This is fairly easy to do, so hopefully others can try it for themselves and confirm if they're able to recreate this or not. Maybe there's a "GetUMON" command? That would probably be helpful.

After a bit of browsing, I couldn't find anything to suggest this is a widely known glitch (if it is in fact a glitch), so I thought I'd bring it up. Maybe we can put our heads together and come up with a fix! And even we don't, I still wanted to get the word out.

EDIT: Neeevermind, I'm just an idiot. I figured out what's going on. I guess each individual drug has its own UMON, and I really do mean each individual one. Beer is seen as a completely different entity from Irradiated Beer, and you can be addicted to one and not the other. Guess I always thought being addicted to one drug meant you were also addicted to anything that shared the same withdrawal effect. And well, you functionally "are", it's just ...hm.

Hm indeed.

I suppose this thread can be deleted.

Funny, I am just messing around with New Vegas now and using UMON for alcohol addiction. It's a shame it's not all the same UMON values and that the UMON system is so locked up. A thing I am still confused about is how the base addiction chance affects the system. Whenever I set the base chance on, say beer, to 1.00 I don't actually get addicted right away IF there is an umon effect on the beer as well. If you remove the UMON effect, you become addicted right away. So it appears that UMON also reduces the chance of getting addicted if the values are low contrary to what the wiki states.
