Skyrim or SkyrimSE

I have been away from Skyrim and Nexus for a couple of years... Gaming Computer and Steam Account gone...and am wanting to get back into it. I am currently saving for a new Gaming PC and getting my own Steam Account...As a Mods lover (wouldn't play the game without them), I am asking which version of Skyrim would you recommend and why, please?

For me, the choice is original Skyrim. Mainly because I do a lot of screenshooting, and ENB is far more advanced for original, so the graphics are far superior when fully modded, compared to a fully modded SE. But also for a couple of other mods I consider necessary that are simply not possible on SE.

For a completely new installation, on a new PC running ( I assume) Windows 10, then I'd recommend SSE. On that platform, it is slightly more stable, and in "vanilla" form, slightly better graphically.

The mod list for Oldrim is, of course, way, WAY bigger, and as a result, it is "conceivably" possible to make Oldrim, look and play better than SSE,

Though many of the mods for Oldrim will quite happily work with SSE, some mods do need to be adjusted to work nicely with SSE, so the "problem" is waiting to see if the original MA of your favourite Oldrim mod either "ports" his/her mod over to SSE or allows someone else to do it for them.

It really depends on what mods you want.

SKSE does have a Skyrim SE version, so that's good. Not sure how stable it is for SE though.

Just go on the SE section and check out all the mods for SE. If your happy with the selection, then choose SSE.

If you want to choose from the entire library of Skyrim mods, then choose the Classic version.

I just reinstalled Skyrim myself after years, and I choose the Classic version. I got the SE version on steam too, since I bought all of the DLC when they first released, so I got the SE version for free.

But I wanted to have access to the huge library of Skyrim mods on Nexus, I didn't want to be limited on what I can or cannot install. That's why I choose the Classic version.

It's up to you.

I had pretty much the same mods running in Classic as I do in SSE, and by far I prefer SSE; it is a hundred times more stable. I'm actually able to play and enjoy the game, for hours, whereas in Classic there was always the likelihood that the game would CTD, either at a certain location or at a certain play time.

For me original Skyrim.

I have no CTD . Stable - have turned on for 3 days till I shut down computer.

ENB, character customization, all those mods I like..

I have tried Special Edition but graphics and character customization was rather poor on mods - tried like half year ago.

sorry for my bad english,

i have try skyrimSE(SSE),

this is my review (i copied from my other reply) :

1. it contain ads,

before the game can play, the ads must show before,

i dont know if it just me, if my internet slow the main menu wont show up

(i play earlier patch, i dont know latest patch).

2. it complicated,

i have try to active the mod. you must do lot things like read TOS,

open menu to activate mod, activate mod, back to main menu,

then play the game,

after do lot of thing above, guest what,

the mod without warning deactivated by it self,

then i must do those step again and again.

3. performance(frame per second) is bad compare SkyrimLE(SLE)

i play using skyrim launcher recommended setting(both of them)

the SLE just fine,

the SSE is poor, the mouse respond delay quite huge and very noticeable,

4. feature is 99% same compare both of game, no new quest, no bug fixes.

most feature that i know different is "torturer hood", just that,

(i play only 1 hour because the sea sickness from poor performance)

5. the mod from SLE cannot be used in SSE

this game is 7 years old(2011 to 2018) lots of mod created in those years,

i dont know why, but almost all of them is cannot be used in SSE,

combine it with lots of modder who retire to moding / play this game,

the result is the mod for SSE is very low.

short story :

with some minor noticeable benefit feature added in SSE,

some of feature being sacrificed in SSE.
