Skyrim UberGrafix

After massive delays, I have finally got the files uploaded as well as the screen shots to my group's private server. Visit here for all the information and screenshots on this mod.

EDIT - It appears that I forgot to mention it here, where it counts the most. I cannot share this via the Nexus due to an unwritten rule that total asset replacements are not allowed on the Nexus (by the staff). I am honoring their wishes and not even posting direct links to the files. I am allowed to talk about it, and provide links to webpages with information about it, so that is what I am doing. Replacing all the textures with modified versions means that this is a total texture asset replacement mod.

Skyrim UberGrafix by 4Aces

This total texture mod incorporates the official HiRes pack (which delayed me initially). It modifies, upgrades, or outright replacing all the textures (including normal, specular, and other maps types including LODs).

Following a strict procedure of Optimization and Normalization (nothing to do with normal maps) which results in a total Graphical Experience that runs faster than the official HiRes pack (at least on my system). With the addition of customized ENB (102) shaders and a customized Palette, the atmosphere added to the game will upgrade your Skyrim experience to a whole new level.

This comes prepacked with modified version of the following mods (with permission naturally):

Clintmich's Detailed Chests ReTex

83Willow's 101BugsHD

Kobayashi345's 2X Clothing Re-Mix

Anb555anb's Hanging Rabbit ReTex

Yuril's Better Circlets HQ

Grace Darkling and Paddyy's HQ Skyrim map V2

These were chosen for their quality not their quantity. If you decide to keep using my mod after testing it, I request and required you to visit each of these and endorse them so that I can continue to keep them pre-packaged with my mod (which simplifies things for you). Since they are part of the BSAs, you do not have loose files to worry about until you add other texture mods. The readme file has further details about them and the versions I used, and why endorsing them is so important.

UberGrafix will work will all other texture mods, even though it replaces all the original textures in the game. So as far as the game knows, these are the originals. So just follow the instructions for installing those mods and you should be fine. Of course I will be here on the forum (or email), if you have any problems.

UberGrafix Nano

This is a regular sized version of the above, so it shares all the texture improvements and the optimization which allows it to be packed into an uncompressed BSA that replaces the original in the easiest installation possible. The overall file size is about 15% smaller than the originals, so that means this will increase your FPS if you were running the Vanilla (original) textures. This is only for those that are getting some FPS hits (lags, stuttering, 2 minute load times, etc.). The ENB shaders are included as well if you want to try them.

Nano comes packed into a single BSA that gets swapped with the original making it the easiest 16K texture mod installation you can dream of.

Enjoy!

Well, I guess no one is interested in these so I will be removing both from the public in one week unless downloads pick-up. I just do not have time to be supporting this if only three people are using them. Edited by KMA

Its a little hard maintain a mod in the first page here, and also is hard to find one. There are tons of mods and HDs to,you are the one who must prove that your mod is the best one.Not having a mod in uploaded files is half way to be ignored. Edited by totalwarman

I have mentioned my mod in many threads (when appropriate), so it does not need to be stickied to the first page.

There is no competition. I have the only total upgrade pack. It is not HD though, since HD refers to FPS not textures (they can be HiRes but not HD by the standard acronym definition).

Since this replaces all the textures with my versions, it is classified as a total asset replacement mod and they are quietly prohibited on the Nexus. I can talk about it in the forum and post links to my general website(s) but cannot post the files or the direct links. I have personal permission from Bethesda, so it is not illegal, just not allowed on the Nexus. So out of respect for them, I have not broken their rules. I realize that most people do not read the forums, but usually my mods are passed on by users when they are talking to each other in the forums. This time, it has been very slow getting a few to try either version.

Thanks for the reply! At least someone read it, and that is what I was hoping for. I prefer that people actually take a look at it (there are screenshots and descriptions on the linked webpage), as that would lead to downloads. Otherwise it was a massive waste of time. It was also necessary, since we cannot bump our threads - which means that any thread not on the first three pages is pretty-much lost forever.

Well you say you've been banned before on that webpage, so aren't you technically breaking the rules now?

"Ubergrafix incorporates the official HiRes pack for the maximum quality"

By using the HiRes pack and not getting approval from Bethesda (this is not your everyday textures, these textures are technically DLC that you would be releasing for free) and re-distributing it you are breaking copyright. Does not matter if it is free.

I am no mod, and will not pretend to be one, but this seems very ignorant to me and I'm not surprised action was taken previously. I certainly am not willing to go download off some shady site regardless of the claims, too much of a hassle to be worth it.

"of me almost getting banned"- Quoting from the original page

No, I did not say that I have been banned on ANY webpage (since I have never been banned anywhere). I said I was nearly banned on the Nexus for uploading a similar mod here when the rule was decided to start being enforced without any notice. It was due to a misunderstanding of wording when they asked me to get permission from Beth and I did. Afterwards they used their admin rights to just disallow all total asset class replacement mods, and I complied (and still am).

Since I modified EVERY texture in the HiRes pack, this is a MOD. Add to that the fact that I have permission from Bethesda to release this type of mod (total asset replacement), then No it is not illegal.

Next time use a PM if you are going to attack, as this could easily be considered a flame and I could report it as such (and will next time).

Go ahead and report it then, I encourage you to. It was a post criticizing it's legitimacy, nothing wrong with that.

Regardless, you defended it, in which case you are in the right. Enough said.

I definitely do not want to. The last time someone accused me of copyright infringement, it lead to the Nexus rule preventing total asset class replacements. I was just preparing for what I thought was going to be a slap-fight.

Thank you for recognizing the defense. Lately (on the official forum anyway), most tend to ignore counter-points and just restate their opinions (ad nauseam).

Edit - I have altered the page a bit to explain what work I did. Perhaps this is part of the reason few have downloaded, and if so then thanks for bringing the matter up with me. You may have saved my mod(s) from an early deletion.

Cheers!

Well, I've never heard of the place you're hosting on, and I doubt it gets as much traffic as the nexus. Thus, why don't you just remove a few unimportant replacement textures so that it isn't considered an asset replacement, then post in on the nexus? It seems like your concerned about people not using your mod, yet you just expect people to find it on some obscure website. Edited by trees415
