Skyrim won't launch

Okay, so every time I launch the SKSE, the script extender pops up, does nothing, and then just disappears. Nothing happens after that. The game just doesn't launch. I figured it was one of my mods maybe so I tried disabling them all and just launching Skyrim from the launcher, but the same thing happens. I hit play and then nothing happens. I uninstalled Skyrim and reinstalled it but it still won't launch. I went to Steam and went to Skyrim properties and validated caches and all that. Didn't work. I even deleted that registry.blob file to force update it but it didn't do anything (steam and skyrim already updated to the newest versions). Game still wouldn't launch. Anybody have any ideas as to what might be wrong?

will the client start without skse?

in the case, that you using scrip dragon; remove them

and do;

set inside skyrim.ini following

[Papyrus]
fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=500.0
bEnableLogging=1
bEnableTrace=1
bLoadDebugInformation=1

then play. after ctd post the important part from papyrus.0.log here.

try to start the game with deleted Interface (data/interface) (BACKUP?????? do not forget)

remove asi folder, if you have

remove unused dlls from skyrim folder

finally... try to find out the failure with WYRE BASH, if u use mods

and before you start throwing things through the window, test the WINDOWS ADMINMODE ........ good luck

I fixed it!! Try this:

1. Uninstall skyrim

3. Go to your local disk then: program files\steam\steamapps\common\

4. Delete the skyrim folder (reinstalling will replace it)

5. Reinstall Skyrim from Steam

6. Re-download any mods you had

Make sure Skyrim downloads its latest patch before adding mods and skse and all that cus if it patches it while the mods are installed, it'll f*** the game up.

The only problem I had after this was that every time I started the launcher, I'd hit play then it would ask "Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer?" and I'd hit yes and it would load the launcher all over again. TESV.exe would load the launcher too. If this happens to you, right click TESV, go to properties, then the compatibility tab. Underneath where it says privileges, see if run in administrator is checked. If it is, uncheck it. If it's greyed out and you cant uncheck it, click on change settings for all users and uncheck it there. Hit apply, then okay, and then it should work.

P.S. thank you for your help sbire :D it's nice when people care enough to try and help with forum questions rather than just reading the post and ignoring it.

  • 4 months later...

This worked for me......Unticked administrator in compatibility from skyrim launcher and tesv.exe then deleted them then verifyed integrity and dowloaded them again...Right clicked skyrim launcher and ran as administrator and the game launched.

for some reason the game wont launch if administrator is ticked in compatibility settings.

Hope this help's.
