Actually, there are several books on this matter.

I would look into them, if I so desired knowlledge of Sauron and all of the happenings in Middle-Earth.

Here they are, and make note:

-Lord of the Rings (complete three book set)

-The Silmarillion (concerning the Elder Days and the Second Age of Middle-Earth)

-Any book, tome, story, novel, etc. ever written by J.R.R Tolkien!!

;) hope that helps you in your never ending quest for knowlledge...

Sauron once held the great power of disguise, unlike Aragorn with his ability to simply cloak himself Sauron could change 'form' and even appear to be good. He used this to trick the Elves of Eriador to make rings with his power by doing this he was able to link the elven rings's power to the one ring and some others.

Now back to Saurons form, once he made the one ring he was no longer able to hide his evilness, his words where hearable all through middle earth {he spoke the text wich was written on the ring}, and by doing this he had to pick a last form he made it cruel and evil with wich he would face the good.

So far about his disguise.

If you really wish to hear a big story please post a YES underneath my post, for I dont want to type all this without anyone reading it.

I just love to correct people /me is an annoying nerd.

Actually Sauron lost his ability to "look fair" after he was drowned along with the island of Númeor.

"And Sauron, sitting in his black seat in the midst of the Temple, had laughed when he heard the trumpets of Ar-Pharazôn sounding for battle; and again he had laughed when he heard the thunder of the storm; and a third time, even as he laughed at his own thought, thinking what he would do now in the world, being rid of the Edain for ever, he was taken in the midst of his mirth, and his seat and his temple fell into the abyss. But Sauron was not of mortal flesh, and though he was robbed now of that shape in which he had wrought so great an evil, so that he could never again appear fair to the eyes of Men, yet his spirit arose out of the deep and passed as a shadow and a black wind over the sea, and came back to Middle-earth and to Mordor that was his home. There he took up again his great Ring in Barad-dûr, and dwelt there, dark and silent, until he wrought himself a new guise, an image of malice and hatred made visible; and the Eye of Sauron the Terrible few could endure." (The Silmarillion, Akallabêth)

Now there is someone committed to being right

I'm wondering, however, what Elwe meant by

unlike Aragorn with his ability to simply cloak himself

I'm not really sure as to what this refers  And to add some to the "Brief History of Sauron" we have here, he occupied what became known as the Mirkwood. BTW: Is this detailed in the Lost Tales or another book, since all i can find in my collection is the pages in The Silmarillion.

Ah. I thought he meant something specific to Aragorn, rather than to people who know who to avoid being seen. Never mind then.

Just wondering: Vraul, why do you want to know? Are you writing something, or is it just to get a better picture in your head of what he looks like?
