MartG66
I've recently been trying to get Skyrim to run consistently without crashing, It has been crashing every few minutes and not loading in buildings properly, so reading online most of the threads were out of date and suggested the 4gb patch to fix crashing errors. So anyway just on a whim, I tried a little LAA patching utility on the executable and it worked! If the executable is already LAA patched the utility would say so, when the 1.4 patch came out and made the LAA patcher obsolete I tried it on the 1.4 skyrim executable and it gave me the message that the LAA switch was already active. But now when I tried it on the 1.5.26 patch it worked and since then no crashes (not thoroughly tested yet, but 2 hours uninterupted gameplay) so it seems that the latest skyrim patch is not Large Address Aware, anyone with crashing issues might want to try using it again. Cataxu
Could you post a link to the utility? I don't think there's any harm in trying it if what you say is true.

That's really strange honestly!
MartG66
I can't understand why it works unless Bethesda decided to undo the change they made and not tell anyone. well it does seem more stable for me, I still get crashes but then I'm running a lot of mods, not all of them written for the latest patch so a few crashes are inevitable. If you notice any difference in the game can you post results here, as it could just be a coincidence that I seemed to get a lot less crashes after patching. also if anyone knows why Bethesda removed the LAA flag from the executable? Cowoner
It made my game playable again... I'm using many mods and after patch 1.5 my game was unplayable it took about 6 secs to turn around because of lag :D I tried the utility and now I have pretty smooth framerates. Thanks and Kudos to you

Staind716
I owe you an apology. When I read this I thought this was just another post about a placebo effect that actually made no difference other than in your head. I actually tried this just to prove that it made no difference before I came on here to tell you that there was no way that would work. I patched my TESV and SKSE and launched the game. My loading times were not only very noticably improved but my framerate was also improved. I have been trying for a month to be able to squeeze enough performance out to be able to use the bokeh dof with the Superb R-L ENB. I can now use it with only a very minor difference in fps from when I was only using ENB with no dof. This should not have worked and nobody could be more skeptical than I was about this. I have no idea why this makes such a difference when by all rights it should have been a waste of time. I very rarely ever give kudos but you my friend definetely get one for improving the performance of my game with a fix that I did not believe was possible. Edited April 3, 2012 by Staind716

I would have never even dreamed of trying the old 4gb patch trick again. Thanks again.
