iamarthur
hello i am an absolute newbie. I would like to make a prefab mod of the concrete building that i use for my settlements as i am tired of spending time building and decorating the same building every time i open up a new settlement. How would i go about doing this?
kitcat81
You need at least Nifskope. It's a program that allows to do many different things with nif files. Then you open it, press 'file' and select browse archive. Select the .BA2 archive that containes required meshes (Fallout 4 meshes or DLC archive). Use the search field to find your concrete wall or some other part for creating a start point, File - Save as. Save it as a copy with another name in your own folder that must be located in Data\Meshes. Then you need to learn how to copy paste branches in Nifskope. Be careful, if you play with game files, don't save any changes in any meshes apart from your copied and renamed files. You'll need to copy paste required parts together with the zero ninode and collision and to use the node to move and rotate them. Not that easy and can be confusing at first. That's just something to start with. If your building is really large , I don't recommend you to create a prefab. It will be hard to place it in workshop mode. payl0ad
You can also use a static collection (SCOL) as a settlement object. That way you won't have to fumble through NifSkope, which can be frustrating. Research how to use them, they're essentially just a bunch of statics (like the concrete structure pieces of your house) put together and merged into a new mesh file with the Creation Kit. In all other regards they work like any other static object.
