triple monitor woes

Recommended Posts

:huh: here are my rig specs

mb = ga-z170x-ultra gaming

cpu = intel i7 7600k

memory = 2 sticks of Kingston ddr4 khx-2400c15d4/8g

g card = egva 970 sc

ssd = Samsung ssd 960 evo pcie

psu = seasonic ss-760XP

cooled by a corsair h80gt v2

all parts about 6 months old

apart from the g card which is from a previous rig,

Rest of the rig is a-okay, psu shouldn't be the prob here, seasonic is a top notch brand and the ss-xp is one of the best model's (have the 660 xp2 and it's doing well since 2012).

Anything else u could try, well what are your temps?

And have you tried different screen cables? Optionally, displayport or different screen ports, if it has 2 hdmi/dvi/dp or so.

Also try different drivers, possible driver related and maybe a clean install via ddu.

not tried the ddu approach, tbh i just run the driver setup , custom install and only update the drivers that need updating , ill try ddu tomorow after i finish work

cheers

oh ive tried different cables, and swapped everything around,

fired f4 up this morning , middle monitor running in windowed mode at 1080 and the left monitor went of just the same , so i dont think its got anything to do now with the 5760x1080

Aye, but keep in mind the 970 isn't rly a top pick for your goal.

The 970 is maybe a decent gpu, but the frame buffer, 3,5gb + 0,5gb slow ram and the slower interface and so on.. that's not rly a top pick for a tripple screen setup.

If u wanna stick to the setup, I would buy a stronger card, but let's try to solve the prob first.

:ninja: no the ddu approach didn't work either.

tried 3 different versions of NVidia drivers, still same ,

ran evga monitor in back ground , temps settled at anything between 30 and 50 deg

a massoooove framerate of anything between 15 and 40 fps which , I'm 100% is bobbins

I'm getting to the point now where I'm just going to get a new card, If my local pc shot had any in , why is it so hard to buy a 1080 any more

:confused: just noticed something , it looks like its the output from my dvi port, I was talking to a friend of mine , he recons that my middle monitor originally was connected to my dvi port which is why it centre monitor was going off and not the others, so bought new cable , still did same, we then changed dvi to left monitor , with new cable , so now its the left monitor that's going off,

so that could be the problem , faulty dvi output, which is why new drivers (DDU) didn't rectify it

gonna buy a displayport to hdmi cable , see if that helps

removed all monitors connected one monitor to the "suspect" port , tried 3 cables, went off, awating new display port cable, to arrive if it still doesn't work , I'm getting a new g card
