A new land, a new war...

Tytanis

Recommended Posts

It is widely known across the land, especially among us Bretons, that time magic is powerful beyond imagination. Only two instances of the magic have been recorded throughout history of Skyrim, both as a result of the use of the Elder Scrolls. My research has led me to believe that it is these events that brought the mysterious lands of Tytanis to our world. Perhaps the ancestors of old did not know the power they were unleashing when they banished Alduin with the Elder Scroll, but it has had certain… repercussions that could not have been predicted. It appears that this new continent, identified as ‘Tytanis’ by several excavators, was brought to us from some other period of time. The continent was first seen appearing off the Northern coast of Skyrim about the same time as the attack on Helgen, which has led me to believe that it was brought here through the same time-rift as Alduin himself.

Yet none of the scholars I have discussed this with have ever heard of this obscure continent and neither do the records of ancient times describe such a place. My studies of time magic, then, lead me to one other conclusion: the power of the Elder Scroll opened up several rifts throughout the whole of time itself, including the future, and subsequently brought back with it an entire continent. It seems an unlikely explanation yet all evidence comes to the same point. The architecture described is unlike anything I have seen before and yet somewhat resembles the Imperial buildings of our time with Dwarven elements, as observed by the very Imperials who first explored the landmass. Many of the mages from the explorer team sensed an overwhelming magic energy as they entered the area, resembling the very same power they feel emanating from the Elder Scrolls, making it very hard to cast any of their own spells. The continent has been… growing… since it was first seen by an Imperial Captain from Solitude leading to my theory that it is still emerging from the rift in time gradually; the transportation of a whole continent is no small feat even by the standards of the Elder Scrolls. The evidence presented to me is too much to ignore and yet I feel I cannot come to a final conclusion until I have seen the land for myself.

I am not the only one longing to explore the new continent however. Disputes have arisen about who should own the new land. The Imperials argue that it is their right to claim ownership of the area due to being the original explorers of the land as well as identifying the architecture of the cities as being similar to their own. Its close proximity to Skyrim however gives the Nords reason to argue that it is theirs by right. Considering the recent civil war between the Imperials and Stormcloaks, tension between the two groups is again high, with the Imperials vowing to protect the land with their lives and many Orcs threatening to attack. One rumor I've heard is that the Orcs have allied with the Argonians to take this land and the Bretons have allied with the Imperials for support. I could only assume the Nords do not care who fights, as long as they're the last ones standing. Interest is high among all races. I fear for the future of the land and hope that no damage is done before I get the chance to explore the now fairy-tale region. Rumors spread by the many travelers who have attempted to gain access to the continent speak of a grand palace standing tall above the dilapidated city seen in the distance, inaccessible as of yet. I can only hope that these observations are true and that the Imperials can attain peace before progressing with their excavation.

If they cannot, then the task falls into the hands of one of the many travelers venturing close to the Imperial outposts… But who will have the courage to do so? Only time will tell…
