Swapping The Overide Folder?

I am creating multiple versions of a Modded Dragon Age Origins... ie. an improved Lore version, and a Mature version.

Is it possible to swap out the Override folder in My Documents to simplify moving between versions. An example: playing the Human Noble Female as a Lore PG version, then playing a late night Mature version of a parallel or different origin story?

What are the risks involved. anyone know. ask some questions if this isn't clear.

mods I want in all versions:

Natural Bodies all in one, Biddels cosmetics (plus other Character Generator mods), Dragon Age Redesigned

mods I want for Lore only:

Phoenix Armory, AG Glass Armor, MordSith armor.

mods I want for Mature only:

Better Sex Scenes, the Pearl sex ones, and TnT Blade Dancer, TnT Black Widow

I assume any 'replacer' mods will not be a problem.

Thanks for your help.

Totally possible. I do it all the time.

Obviously has no effect on mods that don't use the "\override" folder (like NBaio), but figure you know that!

For ones that you want in both flavours that do use the "\override" folder, you'll just have to have two copies.

NOTE: Your chargenmorph.xml file can be one/the same/identical, as long as it includes the required entries for all the mods in both flavours that make use of it. Otherwise, you'll have to tailor one for each.

Thanks for the answer.

my concern now is the mods that use both a load thru to the game (via updater) and also require adding option reskins (and some .mor files) in the /override. Not many of these, so if they failed I could probably find a different mod to replace them.

I did not think of the chargenmorph.xml file at all, thanks for clearing that up.

What I have done in the past is to copy the entire "BioWare" file that appears under "My Documents". Then rename the original "BioWare2" or "Fred".... whatever.

Then paste the copy into the "My Documents" folder. Modify it to Mature with the Pearl and BSC addins.

To switch back...... simply rename the presently active "BioWare" to "BioWare3" or Irving..... whatever. Then rename the "BioWare2" to simply "BioWare".

It did work for me but that was before I installed Natural Bodies all in One and Nude Variety 4, both of which are configured through DA Mod Manager. I see that Thandal has no problem with it so I figure that DAMM must read the pertinent files in the override and adjust to that configuration..

Cheers

An update on my approach to multiple /override folders:

The first method, moving the /override folder and doing nothing else did work, but poorly. All the things I wanted to "disappear" were still listed on the game DLC tab when I started the game.

Current solution:

A bit risky... but I renamed the original /override to /-overide_std-. I created a new /override folder.

then I installed a new instance of DAO Mod Manager with a different path to its program folders. (the first two paths in options are what changes)

Finally, I wrote down everything I did in a text file, including my personal file name convention; and how to reverse so I could do it right after a long weekend! :) I put this file into a desktop folder with a big yellow caution icon, and then stuck the launcher exe and DAO MM inside it.

So far so good. Two totally clean installs for one game. I hope I don't run into any problems I did not think of...

fingers crossed.

update: WARNING -- DAO MM really does not like multiple instances with different paths, just do not do this or you will be rebuilding your entire set of mods!

learn by doing - and making huge mistakes....
